I'm not sure which of the many pre-op diets your surgeon has you on, but mine was one week of Clear Liquids, basically no calories. You really can do this. Take it one day at a time, following the guidelines given to you. The reward will be worth it. :)

I've had to do the pre op diet twice now. My surgery got cancelled the first time. My new date is April 8, and I started yesterday. I can tell you that it does get easier after the first three days. The cravings are UNREAL at first. You feel awful, etc. hang in there for the first few days!

Becky/26yrsold/Idaho. Band Date Nov. 5. 248/goal 165.

If dieting was easy...then we would not need to have WLS.......

I kept telling myself how I have anticipated this surgery to happen, how many hoops I needed to jump through...the anxiety.....

I am so close now, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is going to get in my way now......lock me in the closet for another week if needed....but I am not going to blow it now...no after I have come so far, all approved...just this last hurdle.....

its gonna get harder before it gets easier.

at least that is what we should be told..the pre op is to help ready our body for surgery. and yes it is hard...but it is for a reason. i did 2 1/2 weeks all liquid before surgery and for 2 weeks after surgery. so i know how hard it is..the first 4 or 5 days were the hardest for me....i was whining bad one day, and pissing and moaning and my ole man i guess got fed up and said, you know what, you wanted this surgery (and all that goes with it) so woman up and do it and get it done.....that def made my backbone straighten up and realize he was right....i wont say that to you because you may think i am mean and i have been told i am, but i will say, you wont die, you wont starve and you def will be a success if you believe in yourself enough to hang in there......no will power needed.....all want power. you want this surgery bad enough to do what you have to do to make it happen.......YOU CAN if you WANT to.

I was so afraid that my liver would not have shrunk enough, so that alone kept me on the right path!

Mine was 2 weeks of liquids and only 3 opti fast drinks a day allowed. Truly the most miserable days of my life.

For me it got significantly easier after day 8. I could see the light at that point.

I slept a ton and would fill up on sugar free Jello, Water and crystal light. It's over, but thinking back on it nearly makes me cry.

Yesterday was day one of my pre-op diet, which in my opinion is way easier than the full liquid diet and I was still struggling all day. I am happy that this morning I was down 4.4 pounds which I realize is probably Water weight but whatever it made it feel that yesterdays misery was worth it. I don't expect those results every day but it should help get me through today!

Keep at it. It is going to be hard but sooo worth it in the end!

I don't start my pre op 3 week liquid diet til 4/15. But ive already started lessening my calories/solid food intake so i wont go into complete food shock/withdrawal. In hoping this will make it a little easier once i fully transition...,

Just remember how long you've tried to lose weight, the pain it's caused...,We have to say GOODBYE to the things that hurt us, yet make us feel sooooo good...FOOD!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

If you are allowed vegies, cook them in some low sodium broth. More filling and tastes good. It does get easier. You can do it! Ask your dietician for some help.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
