I am happy with my over 100 pound weight loss in the year sibce I was banded.

My inner thigh skin is now hanging and dangling and waving! !!

Anyone who had surgery to tighten up / remove this excess skin?

My neighbor told me that insurance will pay for one plastic surgery after WLS. Does anyone know about this? She had a gastric bypass, and is now funding the north wing of her plastic surgeons home - LOL! But she did say that her insurance paid for the first surgery. She's had it ALL done; arms, legs, hips, face, breasts..... A little over the top, but it makes her happy :-) She is in her mid-60s, though.....and I can't think going under the knife so many times can be a good thing. But I'll tell ya, if insurance pays for one, I'm SO there!!!

It really varies from one insurance company to another. Some won't cover anything for any reason, some will cover it if the surgeon can prove it's medically necessary (rashes, skin breakdown, etc).

I kind of figured that. And if a rash is what they require as medically necessary, then I'll make sure I get a rash :P

I had a thigh lift to get rid of the same problem. The results are amazing and I'm so glad I did it I can wear shorts now ;-) I have also had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift, arm lift, butt lift and last week I had my last surgery an upper back lift. Every single one of these surgeries was worth it! You do have to trade off the hanging skin for a scar but the scars fade and most of mine have but even if they didn't they tell a story. My daughter was so wonderful and said the best thing to me one day when I was looking at my scars she said "mom your like a tiger you've earned your stripes" see a surgeon about your options you won't regret it.

I'm new to this site so here goes. Had lb surgery 2010 feb. 364lb. 2013 april 240lb. I haven't reached my goal weight but like others started having problems not with band with excess skin I'm a mechanic and it was still hard for me tho find pants that for from size 28 to 22 almost 20. I had not a tt but a pannilcutomy sorry on spelling but insurance will pay for that if you meet requirements. He took 6 lbs of skin still have one drain I'n. Still hurting But can see and feel differences.

I really want a thigh lift. Last year I had a full body lift and breast lift. I love the results and the recovery was pretty easy. For some reason I am scared to do the thigh lift. It seems really painful.

My insurance won't cover any but I already know ill be saving up for them once I finish paying back the loan for the band itself

I have not had an inner thigh lift but I am recovering from liposuction of my inner thighs, which I had done on Friday of last week. I have to be honest, the recovery is not as easy as people have made it out to be, however, I'm sure it is much easier than a thigh lift. Although there is a lot of swelling, the pocket of fat that I had is already 1000 times better - my surgeon removed 1400ccs of fat. This is hopefully my last procedure (I had a tt and arm lift in December)...I just need to see if the skin remains tight. I'll post before and after pics in a few weeks when the swelling has gone down a bit.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
