Huh? 4lbs only? Is this normal???

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I got rebanded march 1st and since my surgery...i only lost 4 lbs! Is this normal? I been on mushy foods since last monday and I am taking in only about 600 calories a day! I don't understand! Why am I not losing weight!? I am really upset about all of this! I thought from being on liquids and mushy foods would make me lose weight how i did on my preop diet! I lost 10lbs on my preop diet. Its just confusing to me. Did everyone go through what i am going through? Is this normal?

It is clearly normal for you. You are still healing my friend, so don't expect a lot at first. The goal is slow and steady. It is not a race. Follow your diet and the pounds will come off.

Hang in there Karen. I lost nearly 17 lbs. during the two week pre-op diet and since the surgery, about two months ago, 19 more lbs. So...what took two weeks to lose before the surgery, took eight weeks to lose after. Try not to focus on the scale... I know it's hard to do, but try to ignore it. FYI, I joined the 'Y' today. They're saying bad weather tomorrow starting in the afternoon so I'll look to start on Tuesday after work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
