Is this normal?

Recommended Posts

I was banded in July 2012. Since then I have lost 118 lbs. I haven't had a fill yet and don't need one. I always feel tired and don't feel good. I puke quite a bit and it's not from eating to quick. Has anybody else had this problem?

Uh - no! Have you let your doctor know all of this? You need to contact him now!

If you are too tight you might puke too much. I agree, you need to let your doctor know what is going on!

you need to fill your profile! If you have not had a fill, it is unlikely you are too tight. You do need to speak to you surgeon! Best wishes!

There are a few people who get the band and NEVER get a fill. Welcome to the deviations in human anatomy..some people have larger organs than the next. The band alone is creating a stoma without a fill to further constrict you. Problem is, it's been long enough that swelling is no longer the issue so this just may mean your band is the perfect (or maybe too tight) of a constrictor.

You do need to speak your doctor because you don't want to head into the opposite of obesity..ie bulemia, malnutrition, etc even though it's not deliberate. You already speak of being tired/ill etc. I would highly recommend some lab work. Vitamin deficiencies etc are commonplace in rapid wgt loss and low cal diets. Keep logs of your intake, frequency/volume of vomiting and share w/ your doc. Weight loss is not the only measure of health....keep on top of it

I have spoken to him to 4 times about this. I had a barium swallow done and it showed everything was good. Im just wondering if my band will ever get loose so I can actually eat something.

OK, what do you eat now and what is it you want to eat?

What size is your band?

Have you been to your primary care doctor? It's possible your symptoms aren't actually band related at all.

Yes I have been to my PCP and did blood work everything is all good. I don't eat much. Nothing really agrees with me. I just want to feel satisfied after a meal not that I have to puke.

this is interesting to read...i was banded in june 2012

i also do not have a fill and have not (puked) once..

not being a doctor, i have no opinion of what is wrong or why... but if you are tired and dont feel good and are puking, go to the dr and tell them something is wrong and dont take no for a answer... not good for you or your band.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
