Stretched pouch without any symptoms?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever had a streched pouch without any symptoms? Im going to the dr today, but something doesn't feel right. The last few nights when I lie down on the side my port is, I get a really intense burning sensation around my port area. It is fine during the day and as soon as i roll over to my other side. Has anyone ever experienced any of these. Thanks in advance!

Your port and pouch have very little to do with each other? Your port is probably stitched to the muscle on the outside of your rib cage and your pouch/stomach is inside your rib cage.

A stretched pouch would not give you pain the area of your port-if that makes you feel any better. Not sure why your port would be hurting, I'm not a doctor, but have you been doing any abdominal exercises or anything that would pull a muscle in the area?

Keep us posted!

Well the pain in my port area isnt happening in my stomach. I’m not sure if it is maybe scar tissue? I have not done any type of exercises(walking only) where I could have pulled a muscle.

Every month I am afraid I am going to get a dilation in my pouch. Last month I lost 7 pounds and got a small fill that put me at 9cc. It seems that after 3 weeks of getting a fill, my restriction seems to disappear. I did experience sliming for the first time last week due to not chewing up my food enough. I called the office and they said to watch it that is could lead to a dilation. I feel with having that much Fluid in my band, I shouldn’t need to be still getting fills every month. My dr keeps telling me until I get symptoms of a stretched/dilated pouch, then I don’t have one. I constantly worry about it and just wish they would a test just to make sure. That why I was asking if it anyone has every had a dilation without having any symptoms. thanks for your input!

Stretched pouch.....hapens to me regularly.....I can tell when my portion sizes increase......

This is why I go all liquids for a few days, to give it a rest and chance to contract to normal before something more serios develops.....

Some people call this the "5 Day Pouch Test" but it des not have to be that strict.....

Early on, I used to get sharp pains around my port....Dr. Explained it was stitched to the Ab muscles, and the more I loose and the tighter my Abs get, those pains are to be expected.....have not experienced them in quite some time......

cant say that i have, but everyone is different.

i would think if something doesnt feel (right) that going to your dr is the best decision...most likely its nothing but who knows...hope to read later that its scar tissue or something..think happy positive thoughts.

You're wasting time and energy worrying about something that probably won't happen unless you abuse your pouch with too much food most of the time. And you would feel a lot of discomfort for that to happen. Most of us experience the occasional stuck episode with blockage, sliming and discomfort. That doesn't mean we've stretched our pouches. If the episode is severe you can do as B-52 suggests and go on liquids for a few days so the pouch gets a rest.

If your pouch were to be dilated you would be able to eat a larger amount of food without eating properly. As you lose weight, fat around your stomach can disappear giving your stoma a larger opening. Also, as we get a tighter fitting band, our pouches become more efficient at massaging food through the stoma. Your stomach/pouch are muscles and can become stronger as they are pressed to push food through your pouch.

How much Fluid in your band is irrelevent to how efficient it should or can be. For some, it's 1 CC and others it's 14 CCs. It depends so much on your personal anatomy, band placement and environment.

Stop worrying. It's just a waste of energy.

Went to the doc yesterday...No indications of a dilation! Thanks goodness. Got a small fill. If the pain isnt gone within a week around my port, then I need to go for an untra sound. Thanks again for eveyone inputs. Being newly banded, i appreciate all the advice from everyone!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
