Was banded November 28, and still no fill. I'm down 47 lbs and losing at a steady pace. It's been so hard, but also encouraging that I've been able to do this with no fill yet. Instead of hoping each time I see the surgeon he'll give me a fill...I'm now trying to see how long I can go without one. Motivated!!!

I am glad you are doing so well and are motivated. However, I don't understand why you would want to see how long you can go without a fill. Why did you get the band if your not going to use it? You said it's hard, so I am thinking you are experiencing a lot of hunger. It bugs me that some doctors don't think a fill is necessary because the patient is loosing weight. I am glad my doctor doesn't practice like that. I lost weight steadily from the begining. However, if i expressed that I was dealing with a lot of hunger, and could certainly eat more than I was letting myself, he gave me a fill. Again, glad you are doing well. Your weight loss is terrific!

Hey Jen,

I am with you!! No fills 3 months, banded on Dec 4. I am down 60 pounds and very happy with my weight loss. I have been back 4 times to my doc for fills but he said with my weight loss I do not need it. I eat about 900-1100 calories a day and stay satisfied from 4-6 hours. So far soo good!!

It is amazing I went from 7,000 plus calories a day and still being hungry and eating like a normal person now and staying satisfied!!

Keep up the great work!!

I didn't specify in my original post as to what has been hard for me. The "hard" part hasn't been because of hunger. I'm eating lots of Protein and staying satisfied between meals, and because of that, the steady weight loss, and a joint decision between my doctor and myself, we're holding off on a fill until we feel like I need one. The hard part has been more psycholgically related, but I have a great support system and am feeling better every day. I know I will need/want fills eventually, but have no problem with the fact that I haven't had one yet.

That's my plan too =)

Great job! I've only had one fill and have 4cc in my 10cc band. I feel great. Probably go 4-5 hours without getting hungry. If things continue this way, I won't be getting another fill.

How much weight have you (females) lost from surgery to now? And do fills hurt? (I'm quite scared of needles)

I feel the same way. I am almost 3 months out and down 46 with no fills. I too want to see how long I can go without a fill. I like knowing the band is there and if there reaches a time that this is more than a mental game, I will use it. :). Glad to see someone else feels the way I do!! Keep up the great work!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
