24 hours after banding

Recommended Posts

My journey began in August when I got a referral to see my lap band doctor. I didn't have the courage to admit something was wrong with my eating and I was just too ashamed to take the "easy" way out. As I learned more about the procedure and spoke to the doctors, the more I realized nothing is easy when it comes to weight loss when you truly enjoy food and don't make changes based upon one's physical activity.

I waited until after the holidays and met with my doctor on Jan. 11th. I told no one of this decision not even my husband. I looked into all the appointments and got all the pre-tests that were needed. My immediate family supports me on this and understands the changes that must be made.

I just went to DisneyWorld with my family at the end of February prior to surgery and I can't even express how awful I felt about looking at the rides and wondering "will I fit?" I hate that feeling. But I knew that I was coming back to a surgery which will help me to fix that feeling for my next visit to DisneyWorld or any amusement park. I want to "fit" in no matter the size of the seat or the social environment.

So my journey started in January with admitting I had to take control. Yesterday I took control with this surgery and I am so looking forward to seeing the less of me as the weeks go by...

My rock bottom was when I couldn't fit in a roller coaster with my 11 yr old son. I was mortified and so was he. I was banded last month. I too will go back and fit in that roller coaster sooner than later.

Congrats on your decision. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
