Mexican Food!!! Yum!!

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering if I'm gonna be able to eat mexican food after my surgery. I love mexican food, especially chips and salsa!! :) If the answer is yes, then how do I do that without drinking anything? :Banane56:

What about popcorn? Ok? What brand? How much?

Yes you will be able to eat mexican food again. Maybe not tortillas, but definitely a few chips and the rest :Banane56: As for drinking I'm not sure if you mean Water or margaritas, lol. You can drink while you eat but you will be really hungry really quick and are likely to eat a lot more. I guess if it's only once in a while it won't hurt.

Mexican food slides right down for me. I don't eat flour tortillas, but corn don't seem to be too big of a problem usually. I LOVE Mexican food and would be lost without it! Huge staple around our house. Oh - and I agree with Molly on the Margaritas - throwing in a drink every now and then won't kill you (in my opinion) :-).

LOL - I ate Mexican food day before yesterday - no problem whatsoever, flour tortilla and all! The only difference is the amount! I had leftovers for dinner that night and for lunch yesterday! I'm really starting to be a cheap date!

I will say that I haven't had a fill yet and this might very well change my ability to eat mexican food or at least parts of it. After a fill I will be extremely careful and wait a full 1 - 2 minutes between bites just to be sure. The last thing I want is chips and salsa coming back up. Yuck.

One piece of advise on this subject: Have the waiter bring the chips and salsa at the same time as the meal. If they're sitting on the table while your food is being prepared, the urge to eat them - and thereby fill yourself up on them - is overwhelming. At least it is to me.

YEA! YEA! I'm sooooooo glad Mexican food will still be an option! The other night my hubby & I went to Anamia's (Southlake TX - for you guys in the DFW Area) & I only had 5 chips with a LOT of salsa and a crispy beef taco!! Pretty good huh, even for a pre-op gal!!! ;) No Margarita (which I love), just had iced tea! It was a struggle but it was tolerable because I still got to eat mexican food, just maybe not what I wanted to eat!!! hehehe I'm not supposed to be eating beef on pre-op, but I thought once woldn't kill me, especially since Dr. Sewell's pre-op diet is 3 weeks vs most drs 2 weeks. Hows that for reasoning? :(

Kim & Molly - "Cheers" to having a Margarita occasionally!!!

BTW - - What about popcorn? ???

BTW again - How do I get the selection of "smiley" faces to come up when I'm doing a quick reply? I only know how to do the "regular" one using : ) keys. Dumb me I know!!

Yes It goes well with me too. We love it! I don't eat much tortilla but I can eat chips and queso ;)

Mainly I eat what ever I want, I just make my husband order it because I only eat like 5 bites off the plate! LOL:clap2: he is so good to me hehe

Just not at the same time. Not only because you shouldn't drink with meals but also because the Rita can numb your tummy and you may not get the "Full" sensation and overeat.

I have heard a horror story true or false I dunno but it made since to me...The lady went out w/ friend drank Ritas got buzz got hungry ate didnt get "Full" kept eatting woke the next day in pain had overate and packed her pouch so bad the band slipped and she had to go ER lost her band . Like I say Dunno if true or false but sounds dooable to me and scarry!

I have absolutely no problem with Mexican food, including flour tortillas. DH is Mexican-American and we eat it regularly. Love chips and salsa. Love tacos, enchiladas, and all the other treat Mexican food that if I mention it here will only get my mouth watering..........YUM!

I do not drink when I eat, Mexican food or no Mexican food. I don't have a problem with it, spicy food or no.

Plunder Bunny- I love it! Bandsters now have their own urban legend. lol

Anywhoo, I live in San Antonio and Mexican food is a staple. I usually get chicken fajitas and eat it with a corn tortilla, a little salsa and a little guacamole!

 Kristin

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
