  1. Dr. Madan done my surgery last march and i love the results. I would do it again. No problems here. I live just south of memphis in southaven, ms.
  2. I am feeling like you may benefit from an antidepressant medication. I wish i could send some good sentiment, but i just have my opinion. good luck to you.
  3. yes, my first fill was today. 8 weeks out, due to scheduling issues. he used a local which did not hurt, but OMG :faint: did he ever use the longest needle to stick in my port which is located just below my xyphoid process. Then he had me sit up and made me drink barium and shot xrays to watch the way it went thru the opening. He filled with 1 ml and then gave me another 1/2 ml and was happy with the way it flowed thru. So i am on fluids for 48 hours and hope i get back on the wagon.
  4. I am so glad to hear that about mexican food. I am about to go on a 2 week trip to san antonio, tx and will tear up some mexican food. Maybe I will have a margarita also.
  5. I will not say "never", but I try to not drink with my meals. I will stop a little while before the meal and wait a little after the meal. If I am eating something hot, I need a sip with it.
  6. Ok, I changed my log in name (for the better). I was pmloveland. I am doing well since my surgery. I am down 23 lbs and feel great. My fill will not be until 8 weeks due to me being out of town the next 2 weeks. Thanks for all the support. Have any of Dr Madan's patients been to a support group meeting at his office? I went one time and did nto like it. Everyone at that meeting was a bypass patient and I did nto have alot of things in common with them. I really like this web site. Even if I just look around and not post anything, I still get alot from it. Good luck to everyone~~later, pam
  7. I was banded March 13 in Memphis, TN by Dr Madan. I am down 19 lbs and love it. My husband even says he can see it gone already. I am exercising and eating right. Good luck to everyone.
  8. My doc had me do the same thing. I agree with the above rationales. I was grateful for it when I didnt want anything after the surgery. This made the transformation easier. I was drinking slim fast low carb, high protein (vanilla). I bought broth in powder form instead of cubes and didnt mix as concentrated because my BP was increasing, and I didnt want that. Of course now I am sick of drinking it, but I am 3 1/2 weeks out. Dont let that deter you, though. I had plenty of unsweetened crystal light that I mixed with my choice of sugar sub. I ate Jello pudding and geletin. When I needed it, low cal ice cream. :hungry: I just kept thinking "just 2 more weeks, I can do anything for 2 weeks". Hang in there!!!
  9. I too have worried about the complications that may occur. I have quit pop but I didnt know about the NSAID's what is the story with those? Thanks for the post. I also eat too fast, but know I need to slow down. Maybe I can learn from someone else's mistake. Take care and speedy recovery to you.
  10. I like Slim Fast High protein/Low carb vanilla flavor. It has 20 g protein, 4 g carbs, and 180 calories. I just bought Bene Protein and mixed with crystal light and noticed a small change in taste. It mixed well in the cold water. I ordered it from walgreens.com I dont like Advantage Edge. It tasted like chalk. Good luck to you. Also thanks to everyone for the info about the peanut butter. I LOVE PB.
  11. I am a pediatric ICU nurse. Came from the adult ICU world last year and just love my job. I work with kids with cancer. They are so awesome.
  12. congrats for you. i would just like to see a size 14. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  13. I too have sinned. I dont even have my first fill yet and i stopped for a chicken sandwich the other day. i knew better than to get fries though. after 2 small bites that i chewed very well, i thought i was going to have to pull over and throw up. i have learned my lesson as I slapped my own hand. I just have to put blinders on as I drive by the fast food joints and remember the dreaded PB's that I have heard about but not experienced yet.
  14. welcome to our world. take it easy though. you may feel well, but you are still swollen inside and your body needs time to heal. save the money for your "skinny" outfits for the summer.
  15. that is so awesome. i too had my 10 day appointment yesterday. i have lost 17 lbs:clap2: . that is the ultimate motivator. i knew someone your name in high school. you are not from FC, AR are you? GOOD LUCK to all of us.
