What are the 10 do's and don't's so I can get back on track?

Recommended Posts

I had to have my portal replaced three days ago. Apparently I had no restriction for over two years and did not pay attention due to personal tradegies. I lost my husband to stomach cancer and my father to pancreatic cancer almost to the day the next month. I've neglected my health and I need to get back on track before my next visit for a fill.

I have been watching what I eat and excercise about thirty minus Mon-Friday. Saturday and Sunday about two hours. I belong to a fitness club and enjoy it.

Please help, all responses would be appreciated!

I am so incredibly sorry for your losses :( ((hugs))

I can only offer tips based on what works for me, but maybe they can help you too. My "biggies" for losing weight and staying on track are:

  1. Tracking and logging the calories for every piece of food I put in my mouth. It's the only way I can be certain I'm not going over my daily calorie allowance and it also holds me accountable to what I eat.
  2. Never eating more than a cup of food per meal
  3. Eating at least 60g of Protein a day
  4. Drinking TONS of Water. I sip either Water or green tea pretty much all day long.
  5. I don't eat if I'm not physically hungry, even if that means skipping a meal or eating at weird times.

Best wishes to you, you can do this!

Your doctor may have a different take on your situation but here's one successful doctors routine:

Part 1
part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
