Congratulations to all of you. I have been a True Results patient since December 2010. I LOVE the staff. Dr. Ken Hollis did my surgery. I like CM77539 had the hernia repair and then the lapband was clamped on. Yeah baby!!!!!!! I love the new changes to the office. Seems like every month I go something is different for the better for our services. I will be seeing them next week for my monthly check up and fill. Definitely ask questions because this is your body and your journey. They will answer you and are very nice and cordial. They want you and the band to work. They are your friends not your enemies. Use them. LOL Good luck all. B)

How did you know you had a hernia?

It was diagnosed by another one of my doctors on ultra sound. I was having upper abdominal problems. It felt as though I couldn't breath anymore. I could hardly eat as well. I was miserable until after my surgery. :D

I'm so glad to hear abt so many successes. I go for my psych eval on sat. I hope I'm not crying up a storm. Lol.... I'm so excited and theoretical I talk and hear feedback the better and more comfortable I feel. I admit that I get overwhelmed sometimes thinking abt never eating rice or potatoes again but it's worth it for me and my family. I don't have any kids yet and I have pcos which makes conceiving difficult so it is imperative that I lose a considerable Amy of weight. This is abt to b the best summer of my life !

Oh I was wondering about that. I guess I would know if I had a hernia, it would hurt!! Lol. I just saw that a lot of patients have that surgery too so I was curious.

Anybody know anything about plication? That's something else that's mentioned on these boards. Curious about that too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
