I am going on from a soft food diet to introducing foods. I am staying within the dietary guidelines per my NUT, however, the last couple of days I am seeing gains. Small, all be it, but gains. Once I see a pound gone, I just want it gone. I don't want to see it creeping back up in oz. I need this to work. I am giving up alot here and I just need to feel like all this work and sacrafice is going to payoff and its not just a diet I tried and failed. Thanks.

Susan

The first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing. Some do lose during this time but a lot don't. Your body has just been through surgery, you're still healing, and you're on a very limited diet. Plus, it's normal for your weight to fluctuate a couple pounds (yes, pounds not just ounces).

Just keep doing as your NUT advised and the weight loss will come. :)

Im feeling the same way. I had my surgery on 2/20 and I was expecting a magical amount of weight gone. However as Missy said we are still in the healing stages.

You should measure your self and go by inches lost...I was driving myself batty with the scale going up and down, but regardless of the scale my clothes were just getting looser and that is what I focused on

this is exactly right...the scale goes up all day long. drink 16oz and your up that. pee it out and your down...its crazy to constantly weigh weigh weigh....do it if it helps but if you are constantly focused on that magic number, you are driving yourself crazy. .....100% judge by how loose your clothes are (are they too big)....do you feel better...ounces come and go....inches stay gone

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
