Worried about first fill

Recommended Posts

My fist fill is scheduled for tomorrow. And I'm worried that I'm not healed enough. My stomach is still swollen and my incisions are not completely healed. I'm hungry but not starving and I still get full with about 1/2 C of food. I know some surgeons wait 6 weeks but mine fills at 3 weeks. I guess I'm worried that he will go ahead and fill and I'll struggle.

Talk to your dr about how you are feeling, you don't have to get a fill if you are not comfortable with the timing of it. 3 weeks out you are still not eating a full diet so it is hard to gauge your hunger and fullness. Good luck.

Talk to the doctor about what you are eating. Fills don't have to happen everytime you go in.

Its too soon and you're still healing. Mine waited until 6 weeks after my surgery. He wanted to make sure I was fully healed and eating good foods. You might get only 1cc so it won't be much. My doctor during surgery, prefilled 1.5cc then I found out after the fact. This way he knows the band is okay and working.

Talk with the doctor.

That's right, talk to to dr! He/she is the expert on the medical side but you are the expert about your body and how you are feeling. View this as a partnership and work together.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
