Tips and Tricks to Increase ENERGY level ?

Recommended Posts

I had lap band surgery in April 2012; I have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; currently have 7 ccs.

My daily Protein count is around 60 and my calorie count is 1,200. I drink around 60 ounces of Water as well.

My energy level has plummeted and I am VERY lethargic.

I went to my family doctor for lab work. All is well (except I still have high cholesterol).

Does anyone have TIPS or TRICKS on increasing energy level? Feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle.

Thanks for your positive input :)

Was your thyroid checked? I think that might show as T3/T4 in bloodwork.

So you have a high triglyceride count ? My guess is that by lowering the percent of simple carbs / sugar of your total cals you will begin lowering the spikes you are getting on insulin which will cause the count to rise - also causes additional hunger typically and loser "energy" BUT the MOST important thing you can likely do is adds activity - exercise - especially in the early morning. How much sleep are you getting ? Do you suffer from sleep apnea?

There's something to be said about this......

I run 5 days a week....I cannot remember the last time I felt I had the energy or motivation to do so....I cannot remember the last time I said I feel so good I think I'm going to to run till I drop......

I have learned from experience, no matter how much I want to crawl back in bed, if I can just get through the first 10 minutes...something changes....it's as though a switch is thrown and the energy comes from somewhere....5 minutes more and I can almost forget what I'm doing, my mind is completely off it...I could run till I drop...

I exercise first thing in the morning, between 5-6 am, always on an empty stomach. I do take a shot of Protein, my Vitamins and omegas', and of course my morning coffee.....

I always have high energy levels the rest of the day.....put in. 8-12 hour days on my feet seeing patients in clinics...

I'm also a light sleeper.....wide awake by 4:30am.....

Thanks for the feedback. My doctor did a VERY thorough blood work up (thyroid was okay; no Vitamin deficiencies)

The Vitamins I take are Bariatric Advantage (chewable) Multi Vitamin / Vitamin D / and calcium chews (daily)

I teach school so I am awake each morning at 5:45 a.m. I am NOT a coffee drink and avoid caffeine for other health reasons. My normal bed time is 10:00 p.m.

Thanks for the responses :)

Yes, LEE my triglyceride levels are a tad high and I do have sleep apnea. This was an issue before surgery and I am not sure when it will get better ?

Hey Soccer,

Excellent info - you have most based covered. I will be willing to wager that if you get up and out the door at 5am and exercise 45 min for 20 days IN A ROW without fail that you will have significantly more energy and "feel" awesome. BUT it will only work if its early in the morning and 20 days in a row without fail.

What do you have to lose ???

What do you have to gain : )

Let me know if you decide to take the challenge and your results ; )

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
