What have I done to myself?

Recommended Posts

I sit here feeling sick asking myself why did I have this surgery. I am regretting it and just want it out. It is only five days but they already had to take Fluid out of me because I am too swollen. It must get better.

I went threw the same thing. It will get better. I wondered what I had done and I said I would never advise anyone to get the LapBand. But now I am just 3 pounds away from losing my 100 pounds! I think it's the best decision I have ever made!! I am sorry you are having a hard time. But it won't last much longer! Hugs! :))

You are still VERY early one, give it a few weeks before you write it off.

At about day 4-5 I was in the same place. Totally ticked that I had willing had this done, but after that it started getting better.

I'm sorry you are feeling down right now but hang in there. Trust me. It's going to get better!! My band was empty when I first got it so I'm not sure what you mean about getting Fluid out after just 5 days. Can you get liquids down? What has your doctor said? I am 3 months post surgery and still getting used to changes with just about everything from what I can eat to what I can't and how much and when. This journey has not been easy at all so I can understand how you feel. Stay positive :-)

Wozzicat,

Very normal to feel this way! I think most of us went through the same process with our feelings, thinking the same thing. I know I did. I cried for 2 weeks like a big baby. I drove my husband crazy, (and Missy) too, LOL.

It does get better! We can all vouch for this!

Hang in there, you have lots and lots of wonderful things in life to look forward to...

(hugs)

A little down right after surgery is normal. It will get better. Honest! I had similar thoughts, but if you stick with it,the results will come! Best wishes for a good week!

Hi There

I guess they filled my band with 4cc during surgery. That is what they took out. I could swallow but it felt like a big lump in my throat. They said I was too swollen from the surgery to have fill in too.

My mom went through the same thing...and worse..we had our surgeries jan 4th together..and while mine went really well hers was rough. she was in the hospital for over a week...her band was swollen...had to take the tiny bit of Fluid that was in out...her throat was swollen..she couldnt even pass Water for a week...she was only getting water from an iv...and then after the swelling would go down she would try a sip of water and she would throw it back up and get swollen again and the process would repeat! and she kept sayind what i have done...but she didnt give up! we are now almost 6 weeks out and shes doing amazing!!!! shes so happy (as am i) that we did this...i know its rough in the beginning..i kept saying what the hell did we do...but just honestly give it time...just a few weeks ago i was making a post like yours asking why i did this..and now i get to answer one! youll do great! just dont give up!!! if my mom can do it so can you!!!!

It's not easy in the beginning but as all the others have said, IT DOES GET EASIER. Recovering from any surgery has a physical and emotional toll. You are going through that and a major lifestyle and lifelong change in habits you have had for years. For me the physical recovery was easy but changing my emotional relationship with food was difficult.

I am not a perfect bandster but I try to stick to the guidelines most of the time. In doing so, I am down 75 lbs in 7 months. I could've never done that on my own before. Not eating junk for so long I don't really crave it anymore.

Long story short, this is a huge life change. The first weeks can be trying physically and emotionally. You will get out of it what you put in to it. Try to keep a positive attitude and know that you have a large support system here and we have all been there, survived and are thriving.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
