When you are sitting there wanting cake and ice cream just picture what you will look like on your next birthday!! If I was you I'd go out for a birthday dinner before your Pre-op diet starts. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that two of you need the sleep study... what do you have to do for it? I imagine you having to fall asleep and they monitor you? how did they determine you need the study?

Ugh, good old sleep studies. Been there (I have sleep apnea). When I went the first night they hook you up to a million things and you sleep while they monitor you. Then you will come back for a second night and they will get a mask for you to wear to determine what pressure you need (depends on severity on your sleep apnea, assuming that you have it). This was way before I even thought of surgery, so I'm not sure what exactly is done for testing for insurance purposes.

DR. said that they will hook me up with wires and monitor me. If I have sleep apnea they hook up there

Well I hope the studies go as well as they can for you both. It's a shame you have to deal with this to complicate things.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
