Anyone else losing weight very slowly or not at all like me?

Recommended Posts

I'm not usually a complainer, but, I just don't know what I may be doing wrong. I have read other peoples testimonies & they seem to be losing weight at a faster rate than me. I know everyone loses at their own pace & believe me I've always been a slower "loser" than everyone else. I'm just so afraid of failing my band. I was starting to have some health issues as a result of my obesity; so I don't want to fall back into old habits. I have spoken with my doctor & he assures me that I am doing everything correctly. I do exercise, get my proteinn, drink water(although I could probably increase that amount) & stick to my diet. But, still, I hover around the 340's.

Any suggestions? :(

to me, to fail mean to stop trying...you are not failing..

i strongly believe that even if it feels the band is not working, it is..just stay with it as missy said.. and so what you arent losing fast neither am i and boy do i every get frustrated..but i just hang in there..the only thing i can offer is be aware of the calorie intake..3500 calories is a pound whether its ate or drank so do try to not take in more than you can burn off.

you are a success..believe it.

I also am a very slow loser but I take it in stride because I am so glad to not be gaining weight. I just keep plugging along doing the best I can and the weight SLOWLY comes off.

If you and your doc are in agreement that you are doing the right things then I say just keep on doing it. Maybe boost or decrease your calories a little and see if that shakes things up. Things will pick up for you eventually I believe.

I've always been a slow loser no matter what I have done to lose weight, so I don't expect this to be any different. What has been helping me though is to not stick to the same routine both with food and exercise. I think the body quickly adjusts to routines and once it's used to a certain weight it likes to keep you there. If you change things up it will give your metabolism a swift kick in the pants every so often. I haven't read the entire book yet on carb cycling and I'm not strictly following the author's program, but I have noticed that if every other day or so I add just few extra carbohydrates to my diet it seems to help. Sometimes I have a spoonful of baked or roasted sweet potato, brown rice or a multi-grain cracker to the menu and/or get in a little extra exercise (I'm kind of restricted right now due to a foot/ankle injury). I'm still avoiding the white stuff as they say such as potatoes, bread, white rice, etc. I also read that it is a good idea to try and eat Breakfast within an hour of rising. According to this book you should always have some sort of complex carbohydrate with Breakfast. I've only had one fill and not feeling restriction, so if I really feel like I have to have something more to eat besides sugar free Jello, popsicles and that stuff, I eat something that is high in Protein and avoid any junk food. It's funny because since I've started this my husband has lost 11 lbs without even trying since I'm not cooking big delicious meal anymore and I pretty much only have high Protein, low calorie foods around. It doesn't seem fair since he's not exercising, still eats out every day (most times more than once a day) and eats fast food and drinks Coke. It's sort of like collateral weight loss.

You have to remember though that everyone loses at a different rate and if your doctor isn't worried, then you shouldn't worry either. It will happen. One other thing that helps is to not weigh yourself every day (says the pot to the kettle - I'm trying to work on that myself). That seems to make the needle on the scale move slower and even stop! LOL!

You've mentioned everything that YOU are doing...even mentioned that YOU are afraid to fail the bad....is the Band doing anything for you?

Or are you trying to do it all by yourself.....

Not nit-picking, but sometimes we loose sight as to why we went through this surgery.......

It could be you're just stuck at a plateau. I had one once that lasted almost 7 weeks. It sucked but it's a very normal part of weight loss.

About how many calories are you eating a day?

I eat 1100 cals a day per my nutrtionist. I'm just hard on myself so I really need to relax & keep going forward.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
