Hi I have a question for you if you dont mind. I was looking at your ticker and, if Im reading it correctly it took you about 3 years to get to your goal weight. I was getting a little depressed cause I have to admit, Im not where I really should be with my wight, kindda cheated for about 6 months but Im back on the wagon again. My surgery was june 2011 and as you can see I only lost 55 lbs. I should have lost allot more but I have no oneto blame but myself.

Did you continue to lose weight or did you hit plataue's too

thank you Terri

That's awesome! Mine has gone super fast since insurance won't pay for it. I had my consult and exam on one day and that's it. I have an EGD on Monday the 4th, preop stuff on the 5th and surgery on the 7th. The whole process from consult to surgery is only 2 weeks! Amazing how fast stuff goes without dealing with insurance approvals.

Wow, that is fast! Do you have to go to Scottsdale each time? And I was told they do the Surgeries on Fridays only. Is it in Tempe that they do the surgeries? Thanks for the info. :P

Yes I have had to go to Scottsdale for it so far. I imagine that's where I'll be going for all the check ups and fills.

The surgery is done in Tempe at Tempe New Day Surgery Center. Not sure abt the surgery on Friday thing since mine is on a Thursday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
