You CAN do it. If you've come this far and you've made the choice to get the surgery then you CAN. I didn't even have time to process the idea - they literally called me at 2:30 exactly 2 weeks before the surgery. I had no choice but to start my diet the following day. It's amazing what you can overcome when you really want something. I had a field trip to Kemah with my students where we were given free chicken tenders and there was all kinds of junk around. I drank my shakes and just chewed gum and gulped Water. Trust me it's hard but look in the mirror and ask yourself if the food is worth it? I've lost 50 pounds and I feel amazing - being able to wear my 4.5 inch heels again is a fantastic feeling. Please don't give up!

Ladies!!! I need Youuuuuuuu ! Start my pre op diet tomorrow . I'm scared abt a number of things. My life n lifestyle ! My feelings toward food, the way ppl will respond , what to say when ppl start asking me how I'm losing so much weight? All of these thoughts are going thru my head. I'm just praying for strength right now !

Well lets see where to start. Why are you scared? You don't live to eat you eat to live. Did I say that right? Food does not make you but it can ruin you. I can pass my fast food now and not even think about stopping. But I need a fill because the hunger is coming back slowly. I am still maintaining the small portions which is surprising to me. MY family and household is all about food. Eating Snacks, junk food but I been really good about it. Yeah I am not going to lie I messed up a few times but not with bad stuff. Maybe took a sip of sprite here once. Its no one business how you lose the weight unless you want to tell them. Me I told everyone at my job my family and friends. Its up to you but I never really see the big deal. I didn't want no one thinking I had cancer or some other disease when I started losing the weight or come back to work smaller that's the first thing people think right LOL

It's the countdown ! Day 1 of preop diet! Already a challenge , woke up and my husband brought all this good food home from this party ! Can't do it. My goal is to lose 7-10 lbs over the next 14 days ! Said my prayers this morning!

Ask hubby to help you with these few weeks. If he know its going to be a struggle don't bring the food home. I know my husband called me everyday "What you want to eat" After the third time me yelling nothing I cant have any of that he stopped asking lol But I gave him a big reassuring kiss and hug and told him I am going to need him to work with me on this he agreed now he don't bring nothing home. If he get something after work he eats before he gets here but usually he was eating the portions meals with me for dinner just having a little bit more. Support is everything and you really going to need that in your household. You can do it ! ! ! ! ! If I lost 10 on mine and cheated a little you can to lol Its not hard as you think. Its all in your mind my friend

Ok guys I am at a stand still. No weight loss. I am so ready for my fill. I also got helpful information that when your body input is drastically changed then your body goes into starvation mode and shuts down. Once it adjust the weight loss will start back. Not sure if you all were having or had this problem. Please share if you did. I walked 2 miles on Monday and I will again on Thursday then increase to 3 day a week. I don't know if that is to much to soon. I can understand what many say is bandster hell now lol with no fill that hunger comes back and until you get that fist fill you really have to be good. My doctor fill only a little after surgery so that's helping me a lot but I am getting hunger about every 3 hours maybe four on a good day

Hi Cassandra! Don't be too discouraged. I have been at a plateau and finally after my 4th fill last week I have picked up momentum. I can't believe I am 4 months post op already! I have lost an average of 10 pounds a month and it has been so frustrating. I lose weight in a weird way (or seems weird to me) -- I stay at one weight for weeks then will drop 5 pounds. It took until this 4th fill to finally feel like I am in or nearing the green zone. But it has been HELL getting here -- as they said it would be. Just hang in there!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I lost another lb this morning so that's a great thing. I am looking forward to this first fill to see where it puts me.

Hey ladies! I'm on day 3 of my preop! So far 6 lbs gone! It's still been difficult but I'm hanging on there. I went for my preop appt and registered at the hospital ! It was amazing and they were so thorough . My mom and dad and hubby went to support me. I know I can do this . I took a pic of myself this morning which is something that I haven't done in a long time . I felt cute !!! Lol .. This is going to be an amazing journey! They have support groups and activities at West Houston where I am having my surgery. I am nervous but God is on my side!

We should plan a meet and greet for the first weekend in August before school starts back. What u girls think ?

I'm at the same place I'm just trying to maintain my lost until my 2nd fill 7/2. Right now I can eat just about anything but no more than 2 cups. I also get hungry every 4 hours and when that 4th hour comes I turn into the hulk if I don't get food. I know I'm eating more than I should I just make sure I workout so I won't gain. Just be patient when we get to the right restriction we will be on our way.

OMG girl I will burst if I had 2 cups. I tried that one time and I was miserable for the whole darn day. I felt so full I thought my stomach was going to burst. I am about to hold comfortably about a little over a half cup. I cant wait until the restriction gets here. I know we all will hit it when the time is right. 1st fill on July 17th I cant wait to see how much food I will be able to get down then

Well I am new myself and I have been doing good so far. I had no problems with the surgery except for the gas and that still lingering lol I have my first fill on the 17th. I started walking on Monday and I walked 2 miles and I think I over did it but it felt good. I am going to attempt to walk 2 more on tomorrow and maybe add an extra day next week. I started eating regular foods and I get full fast. a couple of times I was paying attention and got to full and that is such an uncomfortable feeling. I have to be careful of that. I see why they say don't watch tv, drive or do anything else while you are eating lol

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
