Energy on Pre op Diet~

Recommended Posts

So I am on Day 5 of the pre op shake diet and have really good energy. My headache has subsided and I don't feel like running people over with my car due to hunger.

So this morning, I thought I would take my mind off this whole process for awhile (as this is pretty much all I can think about) and do some gardening and yardwork (I live in Florida). It was a beautiful morning and I am feeling really good!

After planting some shrubs, weeding, and placing some landscape rock......I felt like I was hit with a truck! I assume the energy isn't long sustaining energy? I showered and was pretty much DONE for the rest of the day.

Such a learning process for me. Learning how my body really feels and what it needs. Learning my limitations...and learning to relax when my mind and body want to run, run, run but can't.

Hope everyone had a good weekend? :)

I feel the same way you do. I'm on day three and took a nap today. Now I feel like I need another nap. I'm assuming loss of energy is normal? V

I thought I was the only one feeling a great lack of energy during pre op diet so I asked my doctor. He told me it is normal. My body is coming down of of the sugar rush it is used to. My body has depended on sugar for so long that its not used to this. He also said the people who choose not to follow the diet end up (usually) crashing worse after surgery because its like quitting sugar cold turkey instead of letting your body get used to things. It makes sense now and hearing other people talk about the lack of energy makes me feel less crazy...lol!! Good luck to you!!

During pre-op and after being banded, I had a lot of nervous energy, but the energy didn't have a lot of depth, so was quickly expended.

That's exactley what it is....nervous energy with no depth. Thanks for the "right" words. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
