is there no one else here from Utah??

that is one thing I dislike about living here - Utah is rarely represented in any forums of any kind. I feel like a loner. Sometimes I wish I lived in a more populous state but then I'd have to deal with other problems!

We'll adopt you in Idaho, and if you're willing to drive 5 hours one way, twice a month, you can come to our support groups and dinners too!

I'm brand new to this forum, I live in Utah and am seriously considering the band but it is a huge step and a lot of money and I wonder is it really worth it and will it really work and will I be sorry I can't eat very much, I have 110lbs to lose. Two years ago I lost 56lbs. on Weight Watchers but gained it back (of course!) plus about 12 extra pounds. I am only 5' 1" tall and I look and feel worse than ever before in my life. I can't stand or walk without pain, my house is going to the dogs and I can hardly breath. Yes, I am desperate, could the band really work. I could soooooooo use some moral support and encouragement. I live in Utah, and yes the band is worth it. But you need to know it is a life style change. I no longer live to eat, I don't eat out very much, don't think about food alot and many times avoid it. I eat in my own home where I can eat a small amount and don't need to answer questions about why I didn't finish my meal. Look at your life style, would it be difficult not to eat as a social thing or how much time do you spend sitting at a table over food? I paid $12.500 my total savings account plus fills at $200 per pop.

The plus side of this is that it does work. For some of us the weight just falls off and the rest of us still need to watch everything we put in our mouths and exercise every day. I needed to lose 60 pounds and thought I would have it all off in 1 year. Turns out I lost 31 pounds and it may take me another year to get it all off. But I have more energy and I am much happier about who I am. The difference is I used to lose 15 pounds and then put 20 pounds back on. Now it is a small steady loss of about 1/2 to 3/4 pound a week.

The band is awesome.. I've lost 60lbs in the year I've been banded and I don't have to worry about it coming back..

I went to college in Utah and stayed about 15 years. It was a beautiful place, but hard for me to make a living, so I moved back to what many around here refer to as "Gods Country" (lol) in Texas.

I was born and raised here. I'm still searching forjust the right doctor. I have to pay cash for surgery because of my great insurance company but I think it will be worth it to be able to play with my boys and live longer.

Hi, I live in Vernal and used Dr. McKeen. Was very glad I had the surgery, I also was a self pay and have never felt like it was a bad decision.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
