2 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

Well I am now 2 weeks post op. I am feeling so much better that I can't believe that surgery was only 2 weeks ago!! I managed to stay on Clear liquids for the first week, because I wasn't very hungry, but this second week I have added V-8 juice, cream Soups, watery oatmeal, cottage cheese, applesauce, stuff that will go down pretty easy. I have not had any problems with any of these things, and I am hoping I am not the only one who gave up the Clear Liquids after a week, and started on full liquids. I don't think I could have made it on the clear liquids for 2 weeks! I am down 11 lbs since surgery, which I am pleased. Hopefully I can keep it up. I think I will try and stay on the full liquid diet at least another week, Not sure I am ready for soft foods yet. Let me know what you all think. I hope I have not done a bad thing by going to full liquid....I feel great, and someone on here told me that with each passing day I would feel better, and she was right!! Any advice or input would be appreciated! Thanks to everyone, this forum has been awesome!!

Hi Dawn,

Its amazing to me how different post-op diets can be. I was banded on Monday, and was told to do 3 days of Clear Liquids, than 3 weeks of full liquids. Today was my last day of clears and tomorrow I'll start full's. I don't think you've hurt anything by going to full liquids a little early, but I'm no expert!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
