I have had my band since August 2012 and things have been great! But since my last fill 3 weeks before Christmas things have gone downhill, at the start of the last fill I was managing fine but also eating unhealthy as it was Christmas. I had one or two episodes where I nearly threw up, I just tried to keep it in and the feeling went away. Now it is getting worse and every time I eat something solid I feel the need to throw up and need to spit slimey saliva (sorry for the gross details). Today I had a cheese toastie and actually threw up a little but I think it was because before I had chicken and noodles and nearly threw up. Is my band too tight? Why is it getting worse? :( I'm worried if I get an unfill that I will still be able to eat too much but at the same time I'm worried about damaging my band and stomach! :(

Back in Oct of 2012, I had to have my band completely emptied because I had air trapped just above my pouch. I had to be on a liquid diet for about 3 weeks. It helped me loose 7 pounds. So, although your band may be empty its better to go have it check and emptied if necessary; hopefully correcting the issue you are having, then to risk having to have the band removed.

If it were me...I would go full liquids for a few days, my band would probably be very irritated after all that...also I would think about how and what I am eating....after a few days of liquids come back to regular food with mushies - soft slider foods, then ease back into solids, monitoring what is good and what is difficult to tolerate....

When my band got tight, it certainly changed the way I eat!

Let's face it, I had the worst eating habits...that's why I got so fat...and all that had to change.

During that learning phase...I had been stuck - slimed as you described numerous times a day...I Was Stubborn and hard to break!

But change I did...there are certain foods I simply stay away from..too risky. I also had to learn when they meant by "Tiny" bites, chewing throughly, and timing between swallows

to let the food pass the band...also no drinking during meals for me...

The band forced me to change...forever! All these things come second nature to me now...some days I don't think about the band at all!

I have not been stuck in well over a year now, yet I live with a tight band....which controls my appetite and size of my portions...whether I want it to or not!

But then again, medical issues will arise, so it is you who knows yourself the best.....and has to make decisions....no one here can, or should.

Just share their experiences.....

Hi, in my experience I get this all the time, because you are eating too many solids as cheese on toast, it won't pass the band without pain especially if you try to eat too much, if you want to keep the restriction you are at as I do then switch to mashed foods, or get loosened, I have been loosened before and didn't like it as I was hungry straight away, I prefer to be tighter, but everybody is different, hope this helps.

softer foods for a couple of days If I had what you did it would get stuck also...noodles doesn't always work.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
