My rules remain the same, I am allowed to drink right up until the time I start eating but then wait 30 minutes to eat again after.

However, I've been hearing more and more bandsters say their surgeons are now telling them they can sip during meals.

Yes! I was wondering why... So I asked and she said because they found out that the food does not have to stay in your pouch that long to make you feel full ....the band does this ... So now they want you to eat so the food goes through the band faster and keeps pouches from stretching so it's smaller bites and sip on your drink and so on! I guess the more they research the more they know about how the band works! I don't know go figure lol

Here's the video again. I seldom sip anymore but I do drink before and after a meal.

The entire series is very helpful but if you go to about 6 minutes into this video you'll see why they think it's OK to sip now.

Thank you that was very informative. That really helps to know the hows and whys. This is the best it has ever been explained to me.

I have never believed, or have I ever felt "Full" with the band, although I am always reading here other people talking about it......

The band does take away my hunger....24/7......it is hard to explain...my brain is receiving the signal from the band that I am full...but physically I never feel full...but again, my head tells me I am, and that there is no reason to eat...no hunger...sometimes I have to force myself to eat.....and if I am pre occupied, I will forget to eat at all!

What I do rely on however, is the band/ pouch to tell me when to stop eating...automatic portion control....another characteristic of being in the green zone....

I would be afraid, that if I was to sip n between swallows, there would be no feedback telling me to stop and I would run the risk of over eating. Something I never experience presently.

The key for me is that I have learned how to LISTEN to my band. I would be afraid to do anything to disrupt that balance.

i like feeling the band telling me enough ...my hub drinks his dindin through and i realize i use to also without tasting it...

just goes to show how dr's are all different. just do what your dr suggests is best

I think for some the.band is in just the perfect spot to physically surprises hunger ... but for many if us it does I by making the pouch which responds to the baroreceptors soon. Letpin. Gherlin all that.

I find is I have fluids with food, once I'm done, I'll hiccup a few times and "whoosh !" I stop feeling full. Which kinda sucks. But that's me ... we are all special snowflakes !!!! :)

I have to SIP... I have tried to not and it's too hard and I find I hurt and feel stuck more often when eating Protein. I asked my doc and he said to SIP was OK. By that for me... I use to drink 2-3 glasses of WHATEVER, but usually COKE with my meals. Now... I always order Water and maybe, maybe drink 2 10th of it... I have noticed though too... if I'm eating something that may SWELL... I can't drink. Now that HURTS!!!

I'm almost 3 weeks post-surgery and haven't had a fill yet. My doctor said to stop drinking 5 minutes before eating and wait 20 minutes after to drink. I don't know if this will change when I fill. I do feel full and not hungry. Sometimes, my stomach will growl and I'll think that I should eat but often I just work through it (literally, I don't get up from my desk).

I don't know that I'm chewing long enough. I did eat too much of my husband's amazing home made pizza last week and I threw up. I never want that feeling again. I felt fullish in my band but I wanted that second slice. Never again. Last night, I ate one small slice of it and 12 hours later, I am first getting hungry and will go have my Breakfast.

I have lost about 18 poungs from the time I went on my pre-op diet till today and hope to continue losing.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
