I am really regretting getting the lapband. I only have 2 cc in but even with so little I cant even eat real food. Salads, chicken, any fruits I will vomit. Only thing I can seem to eat and not vomit is junk food. So since getting surgery I totally feel like a bulimic. I want healthy foods yet its impossible to have. Only losing weight because of not eating. I look like I got hit by a train every day. Thankfully I can do my makeup to hide the bags under my eyes. I have absolutely no energy. Id rather be fat than have the lapband any day!!!!

well, keep vomiting every day and not letting your doctor know and you may get your wish to having it removed and not in a good way. are you conversing with your dr to let them know of your troubles?? if not, you need to call them and tell them. this is not good. and no, you'd rather not be fat. i wont allow you to say that. you deserve to be healthy.......please call your dr asap.

I would definately call your doctor like CG said. Also, ars you eating small bits, chewing 30 times and waiting 1 minute between bits? If you are not then yes you will get sick everytime.

I hope you let your doctor know whats going on so he can help you.

I don't believe you mean it saying you would rather be fat. You want to be healthy, and the band can help you with that.

Take care.

Some need very little fill. Sounds like you need an unfill. If you can't eat 3 oz solid Protein you are too tight. Also if you can swallow liquids you can eat Greek yogurt. Much better option than junk food. Are you getting enough sleep? Band won't give you bags.e

You're so newly banded. Don't give up on it. Speak with your doctor and tell him your concerns. Together you can figure it out and be on your way to being a healthier you.

MKB.... I'm not one that is all sugar and spice.... so here it is.... you said you have trouble eating salad and chicken... good stuff, but not the bad. That right there tells me you were not ready to have the band put in when you did.... because if you were you would be following the rules you would be eating. Saying i can't eat chicken, but i can eat a cookie is crazy. Were you prepared for the "life" changes you have to make with the band...? I don't think you were... should like you were just one of many who thought... i have the lb surg. and won't have to work at getting healthy. I will have it done and it will stop me from eating all the bad stuff and that will be that. Well, the band does not STOP your from eating bad... it's meant to help you learn Portion Control.< /p>

As my friend Texas said... how are you eating? Have you really sat down and took accountability of what and how you are eating? I recently had a come to Jesus with ice cream... I got into a bad habit of stopping after work and getting a scoop and eating it before i got home.

Accountability with your band: are you buying only the Good foods? It takes just as much effort to buy good as bad. Are you pre portioning out on a small plate? Your nutritionist should have set with you for Hours explaining how much you are to eat in a meal. And the way you should eat it..... Starting with turning off the tv, putting down the book.... and really paying attention to how you are eating..... small kid spoon or fork, your bite should be no bigger than your pinky fingernail. Chewing until no chunks are left and it's almost puree in your mouth.... NO DRINKING WITH YOUR MEALS.... Eating all your Protein first, than your veggies...

You have to be real honest with your self and think..... did the band fail me, or did i fail my band.

If you aren't able to eat you MUST talk to your doctor and get an unfill. You should absolutely be able to eat the things you listed, and if you can't your band is too tight. You won't succeed if you are not 100% talking with your doctor.

You need to keep on your surgeon all the time. Don't feel like you are being a pain or inconvience to him/her because this is your body you are talking about. If you don't correct what is happening to you now, things will only get worse from here, such as band slips, erosions, etc. When you are vomiting, your body is telling you something is wrong. You immediately call your surgeon. Don't sit back and let things happen itself or wait, do it now!

When you say you can eat bad foods, what does this mean? are you talking about foods that are considered 'sliders'. such as icecream, cakes, pies, chocolate, milkshakes?

Its obvious that little 2cc in your band is too much, you would be surprised what a relief you will have to have some of that removed. Can I ask were you eating 'healthy' before you had a fill??

Don't let another day go by, there is no reason in the world to suffer like that.....

i respect the opinion of the people above... But, We as society have to stop coddling our younger generation.....

and with all do respect... if she only has 2cc in her band and can eat all the "bad" stuff, then she can eat the good stuff. Some people are just not ready for the commitment.... she has only had the LB for a few months and i really don't think she has mastered HOW TO EAT... There is no way... She doesn't need an un fill... she needs to learn how to eat WITH the band... Although the doctor may give her one to ease the whining...

Do go to the doctor and tell him that ...... Tell him that you can eat all the bad and not the good... and see what he says.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree here.

What you say is all true, about learning to eat and live with the band and even coddling people. However, it is very possible she's too tight even with only 2cc in her band. I know of people with totally empty bands who are still on the tight side, especially early in their lap band journey.

Btw, it makes sense she can eat bad foods but not healthy foods. Most of the "bad foods" are actually slider foods. Processed foods dissolve super fast so slide right through the band almost like a liquid. I know I could eat a pint of ice cream followed by a dozen Cookies with ease, but if I'm not careful with my bites I will easily get stuck on chicken. Same with chips, total slider foods.

The bottom line is, she needs to talk to her doctor immediately. Let him figure out if she's too tight or simply not following the rules but either way seeing her surgeon is a must.

Of course she can eat bad food we all can eat bad. It takes no effort too. It's eating good that takes effort

And I did say she needs to go talk to her dr. But she needs too be honest with him/her about what and how she eats.

She very well could have messed her band up. But I. The years that I've been here. Most of the time it "user error".

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
