help with fills

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on January 2nd and I'm not sure how the fills work. I think some people get fills as soon as they have surgery and others not for a couple of weeks. I have to see my doc on Tuesday (not even a week since I had surgery.) Since surgery I haven't felt too hungry, in fact I've been almost disgusted with eating. I've also been nauseous. Please give me some inputs on theses fills and might I have been filled already? What should I expect at my first appointment?

I can only speak from my experience, but my Dr. did put a small amount of fill in my band during the placement. I think 3cc's in a 14cc band. It was about 6 weeks after surgery before we added any more. My Dr. asked about how long i was going between meals, etc. and then decided to add 2cc's. Then appx every month i would return and we would discuss, and add if he felt necessary. It was a simple procedure to add/check/remove saline. Took only a couple minutes. I will say this, I STRONGLY suggest that all fills be done with fluro.

When I had mine it was left empty at time of surgery. A week later my Dr. slowly started filling by adding 1 CC at a time. I would then go back 4 to 6 weeks for a fill. It all depends on your weight loss, how hungry your feeling and how you can handle the band tightness.

At your first apt, your Dr. will ask how you feel, hungry or not, are you able to eat and keep food down. With this info he/she may plan to fill or wait till another apt. You can always ask at your apt if your band is empty or has anything in it that way you know where you are at already.

Good luck on your journey

I agree with the above. I had small amount in band at surgery, and have added less than 2 cc over 14 months. It varies by doctor, so have a chat with your when you go in. Mine waited 6 weeks before adding any to my band.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
