Hi, Sam....I have met other AK banded, but you are the first here! One went to Mexico, but I think you can get pretty experienced LapBand surgeons in Washington state these days. And there are excellent follow-up people in Washington, as well.

Hi there.

I'm from AK, although I'm living in IL.

I haven't been banded. I'm talking to DR. to get qualified.

Just wanted to talk to some fellow Alaskans.

Hello there fellow alaskans, I am scheduled for next month and I already have a fill scheduled with Dr. Jones in Anchorage. Come on there has to be more people in AK, maybe they are just shy? All the best...

Hello there. :rolleyes2: I'm here in AK as well. My surgery is scheduled for 08/06/08. I'm going to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, CO. I will travel back

to CO for my first fill, then I will need to find a Dr. in AK to do my future

fills. Any suggestions? There is no one here in Fbks that I've been able

to find. Thanks.

csteed - I don't know of anyone in Fairbanks...although I've heard that there's an "x-ray place that will do it". I'm thinking that it would be dang expensive and would be worth taking a few days to go to Anc. and see Dr. Jones (if you look under the fill-docs in Anc. thread you'll see why).

I found a fill doc in Nome (where I live) and that's just plain LUCK. If you know any docs in Fairbanks personally then you could probably ask them to try...Dr. K was AWESOME and talked my Nome doc into how to do it.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
