Hi everyone,

Well, I'm back from my little visit with Dr. Kuri! That's right, I'm officially one of you!!!!!!! YEAH. Now, of course I have questions. I know the gurgling is normal. I'm not hungry but it hurts when I drink. I'm taking slow small sips. I'm assuming this is from the swelling....Is that right?

I'm already down 8 lbs!:D

WooHoo!

Marsha

Hi Marsha, and congratulations!!

During recovery I had all sorts of little aches and pains. I constantly felt like it was hard to take a deep breath, and sharp but short gas pains popped up all over. I imagine your pain while drinking is some perfectly normal post-op pain, but we all feel it slightly differently.

I think you need only be concerned if it doesn't improve along with all your other post-op symptoms, or if it gets suddenly worse for no apparent reason. Take it easy during these days! Your body is recovering from a trauma and you have to be good to it.

Let us know how you're doing. Welcome to Bandlandia! :D:P :P

Hi Marsha,

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing pretty well. Good for you. I agree with Alexandria... get all the rest you can.

Take Care,

Thanks! I figured it was normal but just needed a little reassurance. I definately have little aches and pains that come and go all over. I'm getting enough Fluid so I figure it's ok. Thanks for the help!

Marsha

Marsha,

If things, overall, are getting better, relax. If things, overall, are getting worse, call Dr. Kuri.

Have you had general anesthesia before? Do you know how you respond to it? Our daughter had breast reduction surgery last summer and the third week post-op was her week from hell. There was nothing that was really wrong, but not enough was right, if you follow the theme here.

We all react so differently to the anesthesia, that we have to be prepared to feel like hell just on general principles. BUT, if you are sure that something is getting worse, call Kuri.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
