Thanks for the hugs!! Yep I thought by now I would be down 50 lbs....and

due to the fact I'm close to doctor's office and my insurance has been paying for fills....i've gone in every two to 3 weeks to get more fill or less and think he is frustrated with me........and more or less told me to lose 20 lbs with the fill I have before coming back - which sort of peeved me off. He insisted I got acid reflux from eating too fast...........but i think he just insisted on putting in the fill he thought I should have??? Got acid reflux 1st time at 1.8...had unfill and then when he filled me again - game me 1.9? duh!.........then had to get total unfill again....and when I went back asked about doing 1.4 or 1.5; but noooooooooo gave me 1.0 and sent me off to lose 20 lbs. w/o a lot of restriction???? But I'm not giving up....damn it! (pardon my language).......will sit tight for a month to 6 weeks and go back again for a little more fill............and try to lose as much as I can up to that time.

Thankyou EVERYONE for your advice and kind words. I think I may be going through some kind of phaze. I have a very happy home life with my boyfriend, we have been together for 5 years. The only problem between us is that he is a skinny guy, he always has been. He can eat anything he wants and not gain one pound!! So it's really hard to explain to him about what I am going through. He thinks that I can just stop eating before I am full. He always says "why can't you just eat a cup of food and be done with it??". He just doesn't understand. If I could do that, I wouldn't have needed the surgery. He also bought me this treadmill after my surgery because I begged him for it, and now it sits in my living room collecting dust and he is always making comments about it. I think that he feels for me in some way, but just doesn't understand the whole picture.

I work 30-40 hours per week and spend the rest of my day shopping, or cleaning the house. Maybe I am just bored?!

I am going to get my third fill on monday so I will see how it goes from there.

Thankyou again for all the advice, I am definetly going to try and work with my band before I go back under the knife.

Teresa,

I´m so sorry your feeling this way, hey girl, your doing great on your weith loss, you have already lost a total of 19 lbs.!!!! Hey that´s awesome! PLEASE, PLEASE, don´t feel that way. The total average weight loss per week is 2-3 lbs after lap-band surgery. Like others say, you might need a refill, and going for the RNY, is something bigger than lap-band procedure, your ok with your lap-band. And also you might need a therapist, since you have a mild depression, he/she will help you a lot with it. Hugs and kisses dear one!!!

...The total average weight loss per week is 2-3 lbs after lap-band surgery....

Well, quite honestly, Bandsters who lose 2-3 lbs per week (which would be an average of 100-150# a year) are quite unusual, and would generally have a significantly higher starting weight and BMI. The band is a great tool but it isn't magical and stats like 2-3 lbs a week aren't really ever the norm for most folks.

Although literature touts that 1-2 pounds per week is what is quoted most often - even this is quite out-of-the-ordinary for most Bandsters. I am ALWAYS happy to see & congratulate Bandsters who have lost up to 100# in a year :clap2: - but this just isn't usually the case.

One surgeon who posts here (Dr Pleatman) says he dreams about having his banded patients lose 1-2 lbs a week. Realistically I know a lot of other Banded folk and most haven't been able to achieve or sustain 50 to 100 lbs a year in weight loss, even with fills, exercise and being a good banded citizen.

But hey, we take the loss that we achieve and we run with it. It's not a race for speed, but for better health and lifestyle - and the band does help most to work towards that. It is important, however, to be honest about its' capabilities.

Happy Band Journeys to all...

I just wanted to say I was feeling exactly the same way. I have the big band and it took 5 months and 9 fills for me to reach decent restriction. Before that my weight loss was pathetic, once I got the restriction the weight started coming off. I dont think 4 months is nearly long enough to decide whether this is going to work for you, and 2 fills, well you would have to be one of those lucky people that find restriction pretty quickly. Give yourself a chance, like I said I was getting really frustrated after 9 fills, but it does happen. It may be your next fill or 2 more fills later buit it will happen. :)

You have some good advice from the previous posters. We all know what it's like to be frustrated with our tool.

Try logging in your calories, via fitday.com, that way you can be accountable.

Also, getting the proper restriction is critical. For some folks, it takes a little more time and effort.

Good luck. Shawn

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
