Two Points, one to brag and one to ponder

Recommended Posts

Two points: one to brag and one to ponder.

Point one

I tried on size 14 pants the other day and they were to big so I had the sales lady bring me a size 12. I put them on and they fit. I was doing back flips (well almost) in the dressing room. Woohoo.

Point to ponder.

I am 65, and even although I am up there in age I do remember when I was in my twenties. My weight was about 135 my pant size was 12. So how come now at 180 I am a size 12?

Humm, good ponder point. My guess would be your body structure changed over the years. But, that is just my non-medial knowledge speaking. lol

Interested to see what replies you get.

Congrats on the new size!!!! :)

My understanding is that clothes are sized differently than they used to be. You hear the comment that Marilyn Monroe was a size 12. But she was quite small though curvy. In today's clothes she would wear a 6 or possibly smaller.

Manufacturers made the clothes sizes smaller, so us dumb females would buy them!

COngratulations for being a size 12!!! 180 is my initial goal, congrats!!! Size 12 is fantastic!!!

And yes, as we've gotten fatter, sizing has changed, otherwise we'd all be plus size now....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
