I am 2 weeks post op and feeling great. Starting to get an apatite back. How did you all control yourselves from not eating the entire house once your apatite came back?

For me it was WANTPOWER . I want to be healthy just once in my life more than I want to eat. I stick to 1000 cal

60gr Protein 1/4c veggies 1/4 good carbs and at least 64oz of Water. I dieted for 7mths before having surgery and I really think that got the cravings out of me. I'm a true believer that the more sugar you eat ,the more you'll crave it.

9wks out and I really don't have craving.

If I get hungry between meals I'll either drink a lot of water, have some hot tea or sf hot chocolate and that seems to satisfy me until next meal. If that doesn't work I will have some greek yogurt.

In "Bandster Hell" to me is mind over matter.

Best of luck with your journey!

Im 3 weeks post op and our pouch is large enough to only hold 1 tsp ir 1 small forkful, so we have strict eating rules. I totally get you though!!! Im aussie so just about every other night every one is having a bbq!!! And walking past food shops, i just inhale really deeply and then think if i eat it im just going to chunder and it will taste even worse on the way back up. Saves me money though!!!

Instead of eating the house I spring cleaned it. I went through every room and cupboard. Once the inside was done I attacked my garden, back and front.

That part was tough, I just kept myself really busy, drank lots if Water and if it did get too unbearable I did have a bit of Protein or munched on cucumbers and carrots.

Boy, I know what you are feeling like. I had one day that I thought I would die if I didn't EAT!! My poor husband I know he thought I was going crazy. Honestly, when I got the most frustrated I took some sleep meds and went to bed.

Try to drink lots of Water. Greek yogurt is awesome and help with getting the Protein in. Thicken Protein Shakes with yogurt or a blended banana. Just having something with a little substance can make you feel bunches better.

Honestly what really kept me from going nuts and eating everything and anything was fear- fear that I would hurt my band and I would have to go back into surgery.

I agree with the "fear factor" related to wanting to over-eat! Also love" wantpower". I think wantpower and willpower can go hand in hand toward weight loss after banding.

And add the fear of blockage, PB'ing , sliming, general embarassment, and possibly band slippage....

Those weeks before my first fill were hell! What got me through was sheer determination. Shortly before my surgery I made a list of all the things I wanted to do after I lost weight, and it was the best motivation ever. I even online "window shopped" for bikinis... Ha! Also, knowing I could make myself physically ill by overeating stopped me in my tracks. You will have your whole life to enjoy food (in small amounts), but now you've got to hit the ground running and be extra strict! I promise it will be worth it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It helps a lot to know there are supportive people out there who know exactly what I'm feeling.

and you are never alone...you can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
