yes maa'm. that must have been you in the other section. I think u were wearing pink? or white? I cant remember. The nurse did mention you were in an online group when I was telling her about this one. Funny we were right there together! I was gonna ask but it seemed rude & you looked a little nervous right before you went in. Yours went well too I see. :))

I was wearing pink. I admit I was nervous and very sick to the stomach. I did not think you were there to be banded honestly.

Well I did lose a little weight between my dr visits and now but im just under 300 lbs & it always comes back with more. I take that as a compliment but when ur 5'10 you can carry a lil extra without showing too much. The only reason I knew what u wre in for is cause the nurses had told me I would be his second lb and u were yhe only one there. Theyd also said he tells everyone to go in @ 5am even though they dont start prepping us til 5:30.

Yesterday was harder since we had about a 3hr drive home. I only got out once to stretch & walk. I had to make my brother stop. He isnt used to seeing me sick & I was getting nauseated. By the time I got home the pain meds were wearing off. I had a bad case of dry heaves when I tried to take the meds. Its been hard trying to get these liquids down! I usually drink a lot of Water but I only got about 5 ounces in. I probably only got about 3oz Isopure liquid down.and about 3 chicken broth. Last night i even had my son bring a popscicle to me so i coukd get some liquids but just woke at 4am with it melted inside the wrapper! Im averaging about 1oz per hour. I do have some liquid Vitamins so i got those down.

Today should be better.

How was your first day?

I bet that three hour drive was rough. Luckily you made it with no prob. My husband said he was told Dr. Bellanger had two back to back and he assumed it was you because we were the only ones there. I lost around 26 pounds before the surgery. Yesterday was rough my throat really bothered me and I can't cough up this mucus because it hurts to cough. I can't get many liquids in either. I looked at the hospital nutrition plan yesterday and laughed. There was no way I was gonna get 60 grams of Protein down. I can say this though. I have never been so appreciative of the recliner. As hours passed I felt better and better.

Yep. We took my brothers car (new camaro) cause hes used to driving it more than mine. Made sense @ the time. But man on man. I could feel every little bump even the stripes on the road, lol. Prob lost 8lbs from the bumps alone. No wonder the nurse asked if I had a recliner. I dont but I have a good reading pillow and stacjed tons of other pillows on it. This gas buildup in my left shoulder hurts more than the incisions.. walking helps.so does gasx but I want it gone!

Dud u buy the Isopure liquid ? It has 40g protien per bottle. Im determine d to drink this 2nd bottle today. The first was super gross & I even couldnt drink Water the 1st day. Gonna let yhe kids finish off that bottle (athletes). Just took my 2nd dose pain meds. Crushed the phenergan & mixed it in.

Ive already gotten in 3oz chicken broth & about 3oz Water so I know today will be better. Besides yesterday I didnt get situated til 3pm. I know this protien helps healing so im gonna get it down today. Besides I need to get on track. I was so excited yesterday I couldn't sit still @ hospital. They say 1st few days is hardes t so I hung my favorite skirt on my closet door as a reminder of healthier times (used to wear it 10 years ago) and as a motivational tool.

I know its early, but how are u tolerating things this morning?

By Christmas we will be feeling so much better!

I found the Isopure liquid in 20oz bottles @ GNC. If u still have truoble getting protien in perhaps hubby can get u a bottle. Or did u get Dr. B.'s post op packs? Id already picked up a few things on my own so I didnt get it.

Not a camaro!!! LOL I completely understand. You probably did lose on the way home. I did get the GNC Isopure I have to force myself to drink anything. I am doing a lot of sleeping. I have a 'pillow fort' built in the bed. I did not get Dr. B's pack because I didn't meet with the nutritionist until Monday. I found out my surgery date last week and was banded this week. I am a part of a study with OGB and it has been a whirlwind. How old are your kids? They should take over all of your post-op goodies: Vitamins and Protein Shakes.< /p>

Mine was scheduled pretty quickly as well. Im also in Heads Up. Isnt it great?!?! I did my preadmitting last Wednesday & met with her then. We are going tI have to sync our appointments @ Pennington & dr B! Lol. My follow up with dr b is 1/9.

Having to drive out there, work, & keep up w my busy kids cut down on time I had free. But I did a lot of reading so have lil spoons, protien powders, liquid Vitamins & small "sippy" cups. I did order the bariatric chewable vitamins ti take after the liquid ones run out. I ordered them monday & they should be here today.

My kids are 21, 19, and I have 15yr old twins. Only the twins live @ home. They've been pretty helpful but both play basketball and have intensive practice during holiday break. You have children or othrr family besides the hubby?

I signed up for Heads up back in February and I dint get a call until October. I had forgotten about it and since then it has been crazy. I have everything you have but I didn't order the bariatric Vitamins. I did a lot of research in these last two months to get prepared. The video blogs on YouTube helped. I go back to Dr. B on the 9th too. My appt is at 1245. Was he the closest Dr to you? A lady I met through the Pennington sessions is having surgery in Shreveport on the 27th. We do not have kids yet. Just a dog. Hopefully this tool will help us and we will get there soon enough.

I too am from Ohio and have been living in SWLA for a few years! That's crazy! I was banded 12/4/12 in Dallas. I'm going through some struggles now in week 6, but am happy so far. I just found it funny we both lived in the same place going through this. I wish you all the best!! I'm glad I have some southern buddies!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
