Scar tissue around port site.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I wanted to let u all know that I had sutures removed from my port incision site today that had been placed 2 weeks post op after a staph infection at that site. The site has still not completely healed up but very slowly getting there. I am now 4 weeks post op and was due for my first fill today, but because there is so much scar tissue in that area, my surgeon struggled to pierce the tissue to access the correct section of the port to add the saline. After fiddling and poking and prodding for about 15/20 mins he eventually got to where he needed and put the liquid (4mls?/cc's) my question to everyone is had u had a similar experience with scar tissue at the port site? What did ur surgeons tell you about it? Does it mean I will eventually need to get the port moved again? Any help is appreciated!

I'll answer this too. I was banded 6 months ago. The scar tissue pain was awful at first and it was hard for them to find the port. It didn't get better and sleeping was miserable! Last week I had to have the port moved to the other side. It sucked and now theres scar tissue on both sides but it already feels better after a week! Don't worry about a 2nd scar either. My first was almost unnoticeable with using mederma for a few months. It had almost totally faded away! Good luck.

Mine hurts on the left a little above my belly button like that whole area. U nigt have overworked it or it could be gas buildup! Try to take it easy. I was very busy at work yesterday too. A lot of bending running around etc. I def felt it last night but I'm fine this morning.

I was banded 5 months ago and yes, you will feel a bulge to one side of your belly button. Most is scar tissue now. Once you lose a little weight you can actually feel the port. Weird but kinda cool.

After having my band for 5 years, I had to have it removed in an emergency situation. The dr said there was a ton of scar tissue on my stomach and my port site. Now, one year later, I am still noticing pain in both places. My husband says it is from the scar tissue. I am convinced some of us handle foreign objects in our body better than others. My body obviously wasn't happy and fought it. Now, when I strain my stomach - doing sit ups or sitting up fast, i have deep pain at the port site. Not fun!

My port is just below my scar. As you lose weight it shifts around like crazy, so in a few months it will be somewhere else anyway. Haha.

My first fill, 3 months post op, there was scar tissue, making it very difficult to access the port. My second fill, no problem. For my complete unfill, 2 years post op, easy peasy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
