I had all these fears too! But after almost two years banded it is the healthiest and best thing for my body. I can move, play, shop for awesome clothes, go work out, etc. I feel healthy!!!!! The side effects are small and even though you hear about PB, reflux every once in a great while, too much restriction or not enough...it's worth it and can be reversed!!!! I have no regrets, feared surgery just like you. It's in God's hands so that's how I look at it. I am very satisfied!

Could you please explain what PB is? I hear that a lot!

PB is to me...when food is coming down, may get a little stuck. Saliva builds up in your mouth, which either you belch and all goes down or you spit up a little with the small bit of food that did not get down properly. That's the only way I can explain. You are not throwing up from the stomach, more so burping up like a baby spits up a little formula. It doesn't happen often but if your band is filled too tight or if you don't follow the eating rules it could happen. Don't be scared, but you dont want it happening too much. If anyone has better description chime in. I was too tight in band recently. Very few and far between, you will know it wen it happens...deer in headlights.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
