Trish it doesn't look good to me either, but I think your doctor needs to know about it. Do you remember him using alcohol to clean the area b4 giving you the fill? When I had my fill a couple of weeks ago, I was at the hospital and I was impressed my doctor was running around the room looking for alcohol, (his assistant wasn't there), and made sure he swabbed the area before inserting the needles.

We'll all be waiting for your reply tomorrow, actually, we'd like to know if it's any better today.

Hugs!

Hey Doll, I don't want to alarm you, but you need to see a doc ASAP. If there's any internal infection around the tube/port, it could lead down to the band, which can be bad news down the road. Please call your Band doc and tell him you're e-mailing that picture to him. Your PCP might be able to help with the external infection, but you need to tell your band doctor what's going on, okay?

I called my Band Dr. and he wasnt in but the nurse said as long as I dont feel any pain in the port area then it could be just on the skin. All i feel is stinging, and kind of a itching. I went to my PCP and yes he said it was a bad infection and gave me an 500mg of oral antibiotic and a cream. he said if those do not work then they will need to take a culture of it. ugh sounds like my microbiology class! anyway I hope its nothing to bad. I will let you all know. Thanks for all your thoughts and concerns! (((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))

Here is an updated picture of what it is looking like... you can see redness on each side of the infected area that is where the band aid was...

Okay Trish...so you are having your band replaced on May 25th, right? I'm assuming the doc will replace and move your port also? This concerns me, because so many folks with eroded bands also had port infections. Noone knows for sure if one causes the other, or vice versa. The way I'm seeing it, it's possible your faulty/leaky band being replaced could prevent future erosion? No science or fact behind that theory, just a thought.

Here's hoping it's just a skin infection and not at all a band/port issue. Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm thinking of you!!!

Trish my port was located under my port incision as well , but I agree with everyoneelse, it wont hurt to have it looked at by your doctor.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
