depression and lapband

Recommended Posts

I just wish I could get on some. I need them, but my body won't tolerate them for some reason. My doc is even stumped.

I am 5 days post op and still having alot of port pain which in and of itself is depressing :). I am also suffering from weeping spells and anxiety.. why did I do this to myself?.. I just want this thing out of me.. etc.. I have had panic attacks and depression off and on since I was a teenager and in fact that is the reason I chose lap band over bypass... I didnt want to malabsorb my depression and anxiety meds and get into real problems. My doctor and bariatric coordinator all say these are normal feelings and should pass. I try to get outside everyday.. that seems to help.. I just wish i would quit obsessing over this port pain and swelling... Oh to be "mentally challenged".. What a joy!!! And a nurse on top of that.. I know too dang much... Im just sure Im the first patient ever to have port cancer... LOL.. anyone else a pessimistic, depressed, nervous sicko like me???

I wish everyone lots of luck and love with depression. I am on Wellbutrin (zoloft sucked). Supposedly Wellbutrin can act as an appetite depressant. And in the beginning it did do just that. And it works on my depression pretty well too. But then of course, I ate through any appetite suppressing attributes the first weeks of being on Wellbutrin gave me. LOL!

My question is how the heck do you take the Wellbutrin pill anyhow? Do they even make a liquid? ??? Mine is the 300 which is time released-ain't no smashing that baby into tiny teeny depression seeking missiles. So what do you do??? And also Lipitor? how do you take it???

Back to the subject of depression-I really feel in my heart that once I am no longer morbidly obese, I may feel better.

Everyone-feel better and better every day!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
