I Made it One Year!!!!

Recommended Posts

Today is my one year Band-aversary!!! Boy has my life changed!! A year and a half ago, I figured no one would ever give a crap about me cause no one wanted to be with a "big girl". It was a struggle to walk long distances and find correct fitting clothes. I always wore baggy clothes to hide all my fat. Now I am about to take up running and want all my clothes to fit...no baggies for me....

I have a great boyfriend now and get whistles from strangers all the time! This makes Herman very jealous!! Hehehe!!!

I love my band even though there are days when it feels tighter than others. Sometimes eating is a challenge on those days but I keep my Soups close at hand along with Protein Drinks. BTW...Walmart has a great Protein Drink. It is ??????? Farms (I forget what the first part is). It is found over by the packaged cut up fruit. The vanilla Chai Tea tastes like eggnog and has 20 grams of protein..I think the bottle is about 12 oz. Tastes really good, not protein-ish.

I have an updated picture taken by Dr Benavides office this past Tuesday to post....need help in adding to my before and after pictures (hint hint) When I saw Dr Benavides on Tuesday, he told me I looked fabulous and doesn't want me to lose anymore weight. He wants to follow up in a year. Woohoo!!!!!

So for all of you reading this wondering if it is all worth it. I am here to tell you it is!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
