Day Five Feeling Weak!

Recommended Posts

Im not having luck getting the whole 48 0z down... it's just hard because of the gas pain. Today I returned to work and had a more or less good day except the horrible gas. But now I'm in class and feeling weak and almost faint. I don't see my doctor for my follow up appt until this upcoming Monday. Should I be concerned?

Uh oh...drinking is crucial at this time. Are you walking? I find that helps me pass some of the gas and then I feel better to be able to drink. It's getting easier each day to get my 64 oz in.

You might want to call Dr and tell them how your feeling, they might let you start your Protein early and that would help. Give them a call, that's what they're there for. Good Luck!

Maddys right call in, I couldn't do Protein Drinks after surgery and when I called to let them know how I was feeling they immediately put me into the soft stages so I could get some nutrients in. Drink alllll day long, you need to keep hydrated. Buy yourself some Gatorade and sip on it you will be surprised how much better your body will feel. You can also dilute it in your Water as well (I did that too). Just keep drinking all day, this is key to healing.

Oh for the gas, you are just going to have to walk it out ... the gas will travel through your body before it dissipates.

Hang in there, it does get better :)

I had my surgery a week ago today. I called the dr before and told them I was very hungry and that I had only had Protein Shakes, Soup, and Water for the past week. I was told I could now have eggs and yogurt. I have the Shop Rite fat free at home so that is what I had. Only 6 g of Protein but I was just nice having something thicker for a change. It was raspberry flavored but it comes already blended so there are no fruit pieces at all. Can't wait to have some Egg Beaters!!

definately check in with your doctor. I had one day (day 5 after surgery) that I could barely take a shower. my blood pressure had dropped but I was very dehydrated. Surgeon recommended I call my family doctor because of the blood pressue, they had me come right in but I ended up getting 2 bags of Fluid.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
