Looking for fellow banders in the Baytown area

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 3/13/06 and I am trying to find some others in my area. I'm hoping to find out if there are any nearby support groups. There was a post on Dr. Spivak's website that said there was a meeting at San Jacinto Hospital the first Tuesday of every month. I went over to check it out this past Tuesday and the meeting was no longer there. I don't know if the group doesn't meet any more or if they just meet somewhere else. I haven't told anyone about my surgery except my husband and daughters. It would be great to know some others close by that I could share experiences with.

Hi Kat1215, My name is Lisa and I live in Baytown. I was banded 3-29-06 by Dr. Spivak also. I haven't researched the local support group, but feel certain my Primary Physician would know as she works with Lap Band fills and probably stays in touch with any schedulels concerning patients meetings. If I find out Monday, I will post back.

Kat1215, I was not able to find out if there are any meetings going on for banders at SJM Hospital. No one seems to know. Let me know if you hear of anything. Stelis2

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
