Hey guys ....so I had surgery OCT 25 2012 From surgery to today I hAve lost 27.8 pounds. I went for my first fill yesterday. I was expecting to go in and just get 3 cc instead I left with 5.75 cc in a 11 cc band. It was pretty good because they did it under x rayb and it was pretty evident that 3 cc was not tnight at all. Now I am just scared shitless to eat or drink anything . I am not Hungry at all plus I am on clears for 3 days

Don't be scared to drink, stick to your liquids then move to mushies then to solids. Just be certain you take very small bites. It is a lot in one go and it's possible you won't notice the full effect for another week or two so in the meantime sip slowly and chew thoroughly and you'll be fine.

Didn't your doctor make you drink after the fill and before leaving his office. My doctor always makes me drink some Water and asks and sees how I'm doing. And because I live 55 miles away from him, I have to sit in the office lobby with my water bottle and sip all the Water slowly before I can go. He's making sure that I will not have any problems. Then for 24 hours I'm on liquids (Protein shakes, some light Soups, nonfat milk). The next 24 hours puree/soft foods.

You received a healthy fill with or without xray. I'm surprised you received that much on your first fill.

Best wishes

you must drink to keep up your energy...I am usually on liquids for 24 hours then mushies for 24 hours after that. 3 days seem to be alot on clears but I believe you have a larger band than I do. Just make sure when you do go to solids to chew everything to a puree form in your mouth.

Yea I did drink after the fill before I left and I was fine. Honestly I just have this irratitonal fear of getting stuck or slips. I think I spend too much time reading post on here. *sigh* yea I was surprised also but I am also shocked that I got so much but it was pretty clear that less than 5.75 was not restricting at all so hopefully I won't have to go back for another fill. Wow that is a long way to drive. GOOD LUCK we are all in this toget her

Very important to follow your doctors guidelines at this point and not push yourself. Make sure to pace yourself. Congrats to your wonderful success.

I wish I'd gotten a large fill to start. I did not get restriction until 10.6.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
