Suggestions For Fluids And Mushies

Recommended Posts

No offense but if you are on your 2nd band and think your only liquid/mushie, you should probably talk to your nutritionist. juice is empty sugar calories and there are so many options that are protein-rich for you to choose. I would urge you to consult with them. They may be assuming you remember all of this from before and taking it for granted.

Is this second band or second fill? Broths, Jello, popsicles, etc will all work for either.

2nd band. I had my first taken out 2 years ago, cos even though i was doing well in the green zone i was throwing up every thing but mushies. When the doc took it out he said he didnt know what the other sergon did to me as it really messy. As you can imagine i put back on 20kg, not sure what that is in pounds. I have up & go vive which is a Breakfast replacement with less sugar & calories. And thin chicken noodle broth which i had last time and just strained the noodles. Whats Jello? Is that the same thing as jelly

You sound like me when I (an American) lived in UK for a while. I couldn't believe the language barrier. At a dinner party I complimented the gentleman sitting next to me on his cute paisley suspenders! You can imagine how that livened up the crowd! (for you Americans, suspenders are garters!) I complimented a man on his cute paisley garters!

I have family that live in the UK and we have to ship them Jello, you can't get it over there.

My nutritionist said to cut fruit juices down with Water 50/50 b/c of sugar.

I was allowed sugar free Tang if you can get that. Crystal light you add to Water.< /p>

Good Luck with new band!

Liquids/mushies i had the house stocked up post surgery included Protein shakes (although if your doing them pre op you may be over them post surgery), thin Soups like instant broths that moved towards blended smooth Soups over time, drinking yoghurt that progressed to normal yoghurt, low fat custard, jelly, iceblocks. i did have juice as well post op for some energy. i found blending with ice gave it some more substance without adding extra calories. Other mushies to try included Porridge, mince/bolognaise, hommus, ricotta cheese.

Best of luck with your second band, hope all goes well.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the ideas everything is going along nicely except the surgeon had to cut away some of my stomach cos of what the Tasmanian surgeon had put around the band to secure it. But its all good now. Had to get a comfy bra today cos 1 of the stab sites is on my bra line between my boobs!!! Trust a male surgeon to do that!! Hugs to everyone

My nutritionist said to stay away from juice (even v8) anything with much sugar to keep your body in a state of ketosis (burning fat instead of sugars and easy carbs).

I am 8 days post op and have stayed on 3 opti fast's a day so far and constant sips of Water and tea - have been full on this so far and lost 4kg's since surgery. Starting to get hungry now though between 'meals'

No Jell-O in the UK??? Wow, there's my million dollar business. I'll import Jell-O to the UK.

I'm sure there is a store that has a American section that would carry Jell-O. If not, Amazon.com.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
