Walking And Sore

Recommended Posts

I am pre-op and recently started walking again. I've been doing 1.7 miles in about 45 minutes (slow pace). Today I did 2.0 miles in 50 minutes and now my legs and feet are killing me! Is it simply because I walked a little bit faster?

OMG, Maddysgram! Thank you. Sometimes these virtual conversations seem so far from visiting with people in real life and I just feel invisible. It's nice to hear someone acknowledge my efforts. And I'm proud of myself too.

Keep it up, you'll look back on this and say, wow look how long I've come. Realizing how strong you are is such an exhilarating experience. There's an athlete in there you know!

Congratulations, keep up the good work!!!! Walking uses alot of muscles that we tend not to use when we do other exercises. I go to the gym very regularly, but I don't walk at the gym. When the weather is nice I try to stay outside and walk instead of go to the gym, I am usually sore for a few days, the muscles that I don't use spinning or doing weights or intervals..............

Walking is very good for you and you can do it anywhere, anytime!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
