Walking And Almond Milk-Random Thoughts

Recommended Posts

ChezNoelle has repeatedly recommended using almond milk in Protein Shakes. I just want to say thanks because I tried it today and it was DELISH! I also want to encourage those who are not walking or doing any sort of exercise. Even if you are so heavy right now that you feel you cannot walk or it is too painful, please just walk a little bit every day. Start with walkng to your mailbox and back. Do that for a few days until you feel that you can add more, then just add a little bit as you feel you can. I walked an hour a day a year ago and then I quit last winter because it was too cold. I hibernated and put on 30 pounds! In the spring, it was hard to walk. In the summer it was too hot. Fall has now come and I finally decided to start walking again. The first time I walked, I literally was gone for 5 minutes. The rest of the famly laughed at me (not mean spirited). But the next day I walked that same 5 minutes then the next day it was 10, then 15, and now (within a month) I'm up to one hour a day! It doesn't hurt; in fact, it feels great! I have spent a lot of time researching appropriate outdoor clothing, layering, and where to find outdoor clothes for fat girls. I have now built up my outdoor walking wardrobe and have no excuse not to walk this winter. So, please be encouraged to start walking even if it's just 25 steps.

Sorry, I misspelled Noel. Also I should clarify that it's unsweetened almond milk.

For those who have joint issues I highly recommend Water based exercise. There was a time when my knee was so bad I can barely do my grocery shopping. Doing an hour of swimming a day 7 days a week and modifying my food habits I lost 100 pounds. At that point I then had lap band surgery. Now having lost an additional 70 pounds I'm able to do up to 7 miles for a walk.

Peppa great advise. Any movement is better than no movement. Park at the back of the parking lot is one trick i do every day. Less chance of door dings and a little extra exercise.

Thanks for posting this!!

Glad you liked the almond milk. And thanks for the reminder about walking... I need to do more!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
