Delay Between Eating And Feeling Full

Recommended Posts

So I have been moved on to mushiness and my last two meals have been great while I was eating them, it's not till about ten minutes later that I realized that I had eaten toooo much. I felt so very full. Overfull.

Is this delay between eating and feeling full typical? Or is it because I an so new to this?

You only eat to be satisfied not to get full. Measure your food and only eat a half cup right now until you are used to it.

Definitely measure your food and eat slowly. I find that if I'm eating something warm, I'll eat so slowly that it becomes cool and then is not very good anymore so I quit eating.

I never knew what satisfied felt like I only knew full and stuffed. So do the 1/2 cup and stop. It doesn't hurt and I too had the experience with food getting cold before I could eat it. I could not believe how little food it took me to get by.

Cold food=business as usual with lap band.

I agree with the 1/2 cup rule! Yesterday I got carried away and thought "I don't feel full, there must still be room". I regretted it around 10 mins later when I was SOO uncomfortable!

It's a huge learning process... Definitely gonna take some time for me to get used to such small portions :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
