;):confused::huggie:

I am pre-op and have been struggling with finding the answer to this question. (probably not lookin in the right place).

Are posts covered by insurance post surgery and if so for how long. I know some insurances may be different but I'd like a general idea.

If they are self pay then what is the average cost per fill?

Anyone know about Medicare policy on post-op fills?

Also, is there an average number of times people 'usually' go for posts first year and after?

Does having to get fills and not having the time or some such cause people to gain weight while waiting to get their fill?

Check with your insurance company. My insurance co covers my post op care under my surgery for 1 year...and this does include fills.

For the cost of fills you would need to ask the provider who will be doing your fills how much they charge.

I am not aware of medicare's policy on lap band fills.

My surgeon want to see me every 6 weeks for a check up and possible fill. There are no set guidelines for when you have to be filled or not. It is up to you and your surgeon to discuss. Everyone is different.

No not having a fill or not having the time to get a fill does not cause a person to gain weight.. its OUR OWN behaviors that cause us to gain or to lose.

If i were you I would call my surgeon's office and ask these questions to them. I would also call my insurance company and ask to speak to some one in the benifits department and ask what is or is not a covered benifit with the surgery.

Best of luck in getting YOUR BAND. Keep you chin up and keep asking questions...the information you have is a great tool to help you suceed.;)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
