Trouble Eating??

Recommended Posts

Hi! I've had my lap band for about a year and a half now. I had a really bad start but am finally back on my feet with losing weight. I had my last fill in July. I have some days when i can eat and drink totally fine, and then most days when I can barely get anything down. The past couple of days, I've been throwing up anything I try to even drink. I keep thinking that maybe there's too much Fluid in my band. I take between 30 and 60 minutes with each meal and I chew until my food is practically liquid. Does anyone else have this problem? Any advice on what it could be and what I should do about it?? It really concerns me that I'll get dehydrated since I can't even keep liquids down ... Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

It sure sounds like you need an unfill. You should be able to eat every day. Yes, there are days that I am tighter than others but for the most part I can eat. What you are experiencing is not how it shoudl be. You should be able to eat more days than not...many more days. Try a slight unfill. Good luck!

I think you may be overfilled. Never eat for an hour, the stomach dumps out every 20-25 minutes and you can seriously overeat. If it is taking that long to get down your usual portion it is time for an unfill.

Ditto to all of the above. You sound like you are too tight and that is not good!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
