Light Bulb!

Recommended Posts

Finally a light bulb went off in my head yesterday! After about 6 fills now and me complaining that it's not working. I realize what I've done wrong so far. I was banded June 1 and had a rocky start. Started having esophagial spasms, got hospitalized for dehydration and ended up having my prime removed. So my surgeon has slowly been trying to get me filled to the green zone. BUT I used my bumps in the road as excuses to not follow the rules. Telling myself "oh I can over eat bc my prime was removed and its just going to take longer to get me right again" NO I made a mistake in making those excuses. I HAVE to measure my food and not want that "stuffed" feeling I've always been seeking. I have to make the right food choices, the band won't do that for me. I have definitely been going through bandster hell over these last 5 months! But stepping on the scale at the dr office and seeing 5 of the 25lbs I've lost so far come back was a real wake up call!! I've made a commitment to do this right now and be accountable. To stop avoiding the scale. Can't believe it took this long. So happy to be back and ready to do this! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
