??? About Port??

Recommended Posts

I got my band may 1st I have lost 54 pounds. So I sleep on my tummy and all day my port hurts and it fills like its right under my skin. Has anyone ever had surgery to put there port under the Muscle after they lost there weight? I still want to Lose 40 pounds and I'm worried that it will stick out and hurt worse.

I have heard the more weight you loose the more noticeable it is, loosing another 40 pounds may make the port more noticeable. I have lost over 100 pounds and you can't see mine its buried in there lol

They can replace your port with a low profile port. It is flat so I am told. I don't know if they can put the port under muscle and be able to access it properly. I can't sleep on my port and I am 11 months out.

I have the exact same thing. I sleep on my tummy and my band is always sore in the morning and sometimes during the day. I had the nurse check it and she said something about it being placed close to my ribs and there is no danger with it. Just knowing it was ok made me feel better. Be sure to ask your Dr.

My port is extremely close to my skin. I've lost 44 lbs and have another 35 to loss. The area sticks out and is visible in some clothes. I can't sleep on my left side. When I turn to the left side the port protrudes a lot! It feels weird almost like it's flipping a little, so I don't do it. I asked my doctor if it was a low profile port and he said it is. I have the realize band. Does anyone have this problem? Fills are very easy because it is right there anyone could fine it.

The port is sewn to the inside wall of the abdomen. As you lose weight the port looks and feels more prominent and in some cases you can see the bump it makes on your skin from the surface.

My Dr just last month told me he can replace my port to a low profile port at the same time I get my Tummy Tuck ....if I decide to do that. He said its a perfect time to do it because the plastic surgeon is already making the cut. I should have asked him why they just dont put in a low profile one to start with but I didnt think to ask.

If yours is bothering you I would discuss your options.

Before I was banded the doctor told me he was going to put in the low profile one just cuz I wasn't that big. I will just ask my doctor the next time I see him which one i have and if its ok that it hurts all the time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
