I had surgery on October 10th. Including my Pre op week I have only lost 11.5 lbs. I won't get a fill until November 13th. I don't really feel like I can eat any less than before surgery. Is this normal. I try to watch what I eat as much as possible, but honestly if that we're easy for me I wouldn't have had to have the surgery.

Yep normal. Do you have realize or lap band? My dr said I'm wide open, that's why I'm starving all the time. TG I go in Monday for my first fill.

Before your first fill there really is little difference. My physician explained all this to me and they also discuss this on the main lap band site. Have you listened to all the videos on the lap band site, they are very informational and can be of help in the beginning of what to expect before a fill and how you should fill after a fill. I wish doctors would better prepare people for the initial phase of this surgery. So many people think they should start losing weight immediately and should not be hungry and sadly that is not the case and than sits in the frustration with the band.

Hang in there it does get better, the first 6 weeks are pretty hard for some people. Try to work on your Portion Control and drink plenty of Water.

I dont know bout you, but I dont particularly like Water. I do however like flavored water. I tend to drink A LOT MORE of it if there is some sort of flavoring in it. AT Walmart they have a "Great Value" which is walmarts brand of drink flavoring. Its primarily for water and is Sugar Free. Its also very reasonably priced. They have a ton of different flavors. I LOVE the "cranberry" flavored. I swear you cant tell the difference between the flavoring and cranberry juice. Same thing with the "apple" flavor and apple juice, etc, and so on and so forth,LOL! Anyhoo, if you are using water to feel fuller, this makes it far more palatable and not so bad on the wallet as some of these flavorings that give me sticker shock. I swear I hate goin to the Grocer anymore, STICKER SHOCK, AHHHH! h well, GOOD LUCK! Sandy

I agree do folks get info from their Dr. or PA I went home with reams and videos I had to watch. If you aren't getting this info then ask them why??.

Now having said that in none of my information did it say I would be hungry until I got fills ... honest I checked again.... So dummy me I believed I was not suppose to be hungry and I ate what they told me on a little plate and with a baby fork and took 20 mins and drank all the Water and I was not hungry..

I am not saying this to make waves..... I hear folks are getting hungry but I sure am glad I didn't know I was suppose to be.

like new me said, we have to use Portion Control and make good choices

the band wont stop you from getting hungry but will help us eat less

i find if i am hungry, i eat something with Protein or even drink me a Protein shake..

you sound like you are doing great so hang in there....

That is 11.5 lbs gone forever! Congratulations on your weight loss.

I have virtually no restriction and get hungry about every 3 hours. I have a little bit to eat and I am satisfied for another 3 hours or so.

I have found I have to divide my meals into 5 smaller ones.

It seems to be working for me because I am losing slowly but steadily,

I am not sure when I go for my first fill, but I think it is about 4-6 weeks after surgery. I will have to check my paperwork. I was banded on Oct. 19th.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
