Oh My! Should I Really Hand Over This Pile Of Cash For This?

Recommended Posts

I'm a self pay ($18,000 that was supposed to be $12K) too. I think I can get past where I am now (plateau, learning how to eat and chew with restriction, self control) and get to those amazing "AFTER" photos. When I look like all these amazing people who have lost the weight, I will say it was the right call.

I know I cannot lose this weight any other way.

Having relocated alot, I always advise others that they need to give any move 1 year before they like it. I am going to follow that same advice with my band.

Wow..your insurance did that to you?right before surgery?I would be protesting this issue with your insurance company.Because of the fact that your procedure was already in motion. That is not right. So they ok'd it initially?

When anthem spoke to the consultant in July she was told it was a covered procedure. When it was submitted for approval the week before surgery they found the exclusion. I would have thought that it was a trick by the surgeons office to trick me into self pay if they had not bent ver backwards to lower the down payment and adjust the payment schedule for me. I really do think that it was a mistake on the part of the first anthem representative. I have spoken to several insurance reps and human resources and they all provide proof that it is excluded from my coverage. It super sucks but I have turned over the cash now. The decision is done...... Now I jus have to make this work. My goal is a Water park with my boys next summer!

Sounds like that anthem rep was speaking generally vs about your llan specifically. Some plans cover it and some do not. Im so sorry for their lack of information upfront. At the same time im excited for you! Congrats on making your decision and trust me it will pay off.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
